Hello Steemians!
Hello foodies 😂
Hello farmers!
Hello agriculturists!

Happy new year.
Compliments of the season.

The beautiful and festive season is almost over and well spent (I can say for most and not all). We've all enjoyed ourselves with drinks and varieties of food.
Well certain foods because at that particular time of the year ther are certain foods which would be in very high demand in the market. These foods are purchased with the aim of preparing food in most family homes for the celebration of Christmas and new year.

Mentioning on behalf of where I'm from, Nigeria, the food are as follows:

  1. Rice: local rice, foreign rice, whatever type gets way too demanded and they are used for preparing white rice, Jollof rice and fried rice. Coconut rice is rarely prepared
  2. Yams: people eat boiled yams, but during this period, pounded yam is the main purpose of getting yams. Pounded yam could be eaten either during Christmas or new year depending on the decision and preference of the family..
  3. Fowls: you see a lot of people, both buyer and seller grabbing one either to sell or already purchased. Broilers or cocker especially are in high demand and supply. Not much people buy layers to kill them quickly. Fowls are boiled, fried or grilled and eaten with the dish2
  4. Peppers: of course, would the meal be complete without adding peppers? Scotch bonnets, chill peppers, green peppers and all are gotten to make stew, soups, and other garnishing preparations.
  5. Turkeys: an alternative to fowls, serving as protein to dish. But they are more expensive.
  6. Seasonings: this come in flavor cubes and powders, tomato pastes, curry powders, dried thyme and the likes. Without them the dishes are almost tasteless and without aroma.
  7. Drinks: this is to complement the meals and ‘step down’. They come in sweet nonalcoholic wines, juices and fruit drinks. Common examples are: coke, fanta, sprite, 5alive, Malt drinks, Schweppes, pulpy, Smirnoff, bigi drinks, lacasera, 7up, Hollandia, youghurt and so on.

Here we go.
Thanks for reading ✨
Happy new year once again.
