1537 aqueduct still in operation, Evora, Portugal (3 pics)

As you can see here, it won't be hard to believe that the most spectacular monument of the city of Évora is the Agua de Prata aqueduct and therefore cannot be missed.

The 18 km long aqueduct was erected in 1532 and is still in use today to provide water to the city.

The 16th century aqueduct has undergone some restoration, but the original design has been preserved.

There are several options of walking or driving to admire the monument depending on the time you have.

We decided to walk along it and it is interesting to see it appear and disappear in through the historic center of Evora.

It's great to see the integration of the aqueduct and the new homes and businesses.

No wasted space and a piece of history integrated into modern life.

So cool!
