A local Market: Bou Bazar, Kushtia, Bangladesh

Today I am going to share another geographical thing with you. I am a citizen of Bangladesh. Here in our country you may see market like this. In small villages,localities maybe in the cities there are market like this. In towns there maybe several big markets but there may some small markets like this. The localities which are quite distant from main markets you may see markets like this. So I am going tell about those markets.
This is Bou Bazar of Kushtia. A famous district city of Bangladesh. I live just beside it. Bou means wife in Bangla & Bazar means Market.Bazar is a turkish word. But how it’s named I don't know.I've seen in every districts there is a market named Bou Bazar.

These markets are mainly for the daily commodities. You may get vegetables, fish sometimes meat, chicken, groceries, fruits there. Here this old man is selling cauliflowers, spinach,eggplants, coriander, onion leaves.If you look closely you can see a boy is passing with a reel of threads used for kite flying. So he is going to fly a kite.

This is another salesman.He is also selling vegetables. He has cauliflowers,Chillies, Carrots,Beans,Cabbages, eggplants & potatoes . A girl bought some fishes & went to him for buying some vegetables. And they were laughing over something.

The man on the left was selling just lemons. There is another man beside him holding his tent because it was raining a bit. He has a business of selling betal leaves. Betal leaves are very popular in the Indian Subcontinent. A lot of people have betal leaves with betal nuts, Oyster soda lime paste & different kind of spices and tobacco. It's kind of geographical habit of the people around here. It is called paan. People of all classes have betal leaves. To most of them It's addictive.

Here the trade is being held. The buyer is choosing his desired goods. The seller is with a scale. The buyer chooses the goods and keep them on a side of the scale. Other side of the scale contains weights. The seller measures manually & give it to the buyer.

This old man has sold out all his goods. Now he is counting the money he got.

This is a fish shop. The seller is weighing the fish & showing the buyer is that okay or not. Two women are waiting for buying too.

A shop without a shopkeeper. He might've gone somewhere for any need.
So that's a complete review of a local market. That's how it look & works. Its a totally geographical phenomenon. You may not see something like this any other place but here. Hope you liked it.I hope you get to know something about the geography of Bangladesh.
