Deliveroo is a UK-based online food delivery company that currently operates in the UK, Netherlands, France, Germany, Belgium, Ireland, Italy and other countries.

After a user places an order through the website, Deliveroo selects the right courier to deliver the food from the restaurant to the customer. The company makes money mainly by collecting commissions from restaurants and charging delivery fees from customers.

On April 1 of this year, the delivery platform sent an email to its customers containing a huge invoice concerning an order that the customer did not place. Some people were fooled by the prank and made related actions to their bank cards.

"April Fool's Day isn't really April Fool's Day without a trick," but Deliveroo paid the price for it. In a clever attempt to trick customers, the takeaway platform created a wave of panic among some people.

The email that has been sent looks like an order confirmation. "38 Accluga anchovy pizzas for only €466.40. As a thank you for your loyalty, we are offering 50 special anchovy chutneys with free delivery."

A small line at the bottom of the email reads, "One last very important piece of information: the anchovies on these pizzas are actually ...... little pranksters! Smile, the April Fool's joke is back!"

Unfortunately, the email left a bad impression on many customers, many of whom performed related actions on their bank cards to prevent theft.

This Friday Deliveroo officially apologized to its customers and sent an email to these customers.
