It's a very unique painting; it looks like someone I know. I also like to start painting without making many strokes, sketches, or ideas, if that's the right way. Really, in art nothing is written in stone; how else would you try to be an artist?

That is interesting since it no one I know. I placed him in my sight but he's still a stranger. It can be easier to sketch first but as you know my sketching sucks. I do try to sketch daily after painting. Cubes, boxes no one would buy and dancers with or without faces.
I am not sure if this is a better method, but I didn't like using the white chalk on black canvas like suggested with the fish. Unlike what been told I cannot wipe it off easily at all.
This way of painting is more like the way I use the soft pastels, although I do draw the contours if I use them.
