Self-Portrait

This isn't exactly anything worth bragging about, but this is a POV-pencil-drawing of me doing a bad drawing. Very meta, indeed. Or so I thought, back then. Obviously it's not -that- meta, nonetheless I remember having a slight chuckle at the irony of it all.

The creation process is more or less the most interesting part about it. Technically it's just a sticky-tape-composite of individual A4-sketches. The hands were drawn individually, too. Or rather, I traced the overlapping parts of the outline with... either an exacto knife or a pair of kitchen scissors. Then I superimposed the hands on the viking raid, giving the composite a slightly layered look (most of which was lost during digitalization).

In order to digitalize the picture I had to tear the composite apart and then frankenstein it back together digitally via GIMP. Or at least that's what I remember doing. Given how none of the pages were perfectly flat, benefit of me folding the composite, it's not as smooth as I would've liked it to be.

Either way, here you go!

For me, there's a lot right about the left hand, and that's to convincing. I love your confidence and the texture of the piece surface is worth staring at.

Confidence is a very polite way of phrasing the kind of ongoing malfunction I've been crippled with :-)

Take a compliment @grebmot! Crippled or not we stare at it and keep staring and decide what it is.
I like the Frankenstein part 🤣 and your art of writing!

If you continue like this you'll see we love you even more (and you will be the next 'Reflection').

A great Sunday!
Keep sketching, tearing, experimenting with or without Frankenstein.

Have you done any sketch before? If not then it is very good work, there are few reasons why:

  • you just grabbed a pencil and did a sketch

  • I do not know if you noticed but you have chosen difficult parts of human anatomy hands and feet. Not many start with such difficult part because there are a lot that could go wrong but when people just start without knowing that then our brain does not think and we just do

  • both hands are well done, the proportions, the position of fingers

I think if you add shading paying attention to the light and shadows that will give the impression of three dimensional object

I am very impressed with that.

We have a great Artist on Steemit, @jorgevandeperre, who did and does a lot of teaching in basics of Art, I wonder if he will find it interesting to join this community too, he professional advice will be great.

You can visit his blog and then let me know what you think about
