RE: Plaster

Wow I love this, this looks like a relief sculpture, the fact that the plaster is thin it will take you much time to get some of the forms. I know this must have taking a lot of your time to make. It’s beautiful though. 🤩

It was a fun things to do, just the nose and mouth were annoying also because I used here a thinner plaster and had to keep pushing it up and modelling till it became dryer (= thicker).

The best part is that the heaviness of the first days is gone now it is dry. Today it feels much lighter. It was a fun thing to do and now I have to decide if I should change something and painted in which way.

Thanks for stopping by.

P.s. I wonder if you like to give this a try as well.

Yeah it’s true, I could see that the nose was a struggle for you. But the outcome isn’t bad at all.

Give it a try lol 😂 men I can’t say though, I have never tried such medium though.

I could sand down the nose and mouth a bit more. The thing is, it’s not really meant to be viewed from the front, but from below, just like in the photo I used. I think that would be easier to paint than to fill. It might also be easier to carve it out of a block of plaster, or to sculpt or model it from clay.

🤔

Well it’s just like sculpting, sometimes sculptors use some reinforcements wire which will hold us the molds. It’s not an easy work though.
Drawing it is far much easier like you said.
