I can just imagine the taste of the paint and how you stir it with the brush, hahaha. There's nothing wrong with tasting and trying, @dreeyor. Unlike what people say, and the idiom stating that curiosity kills the cat isn't true, it's a sign of intelligence.

Watercolour paint doesn't smell, acrylic a bit but I do us a cloth to wipe off the brush. I can't throw away every cup, that would be such a waste.
Smelling paint? An expensive hobby. What type of paint was that? Oil paint?
