RE: Free Art Frees Art at the SUNY Oswego Campus—March 6, 2026

I believe one should only give away work for free when certain that materials are plentiful and that one can sustain the creative process. If this is not the case, and it rarely is for artists, then it simply cannot be offered free of charge.
Time is not an issue for me (everyone has hobbies), but sometimes it is genuinely difficult to find the materials I need or wish to experiment with.
I firmly believe art should be for everyone, yet adopting a compromise approach to payment remains a viable option.
I'd rather keep pieces myself than see them end up in the garbage. Paying for cherished items, art included, often elevates their perceived value in the customer's mind.

I wrote about how I price paintings fair and squarely.
When I do put a price on them, like in a gallery show, or when a collector arrives to my door in my dreams:)
