I find it a great idea. Did you ever try fabric dye? Are you still using oilpaint or is it acrylic on the denim jackets? I noticed if I wash the denim in some cases the paint is washed in others it remains. It isn't stiff (acrylic, oilpaint I only used once). I have fabric dye but didn't come to using it yet.
I wonder if oil and acrylic paint on fabric should be fixated as well (iron or in the oven) to make it softer and more washable, although dye on clothes will rarely remain.
I haven't used fabric dye but will make some wearable jackets and T-shirts to take to Camden. My local art shop has some fabric paints. These ones are oil on top of two layers of primer and I expect are better suited to hanging on walls.
I checked the van styles Tex I have. It's acrylic and thinner than the average so the fabric can soak it in. Who knows I try one day to make canvas out of sheets or clothes and give it a try. From what I understand it could be used on unprimed canvas or paper but looks more like watercolour, but therefore it is too expensive. Mixed art mediums might work better also for your jackets. I like them.
