1 Hour Painting

in ᴀʀᴛ & ᴀʀᴛɪꜱᴛꜱ4 days ago (edited)

Let's see if I can make it, meaning painting faster than usually.
Instead of 10 separate paintings I kind of attached them and taped them together on the floor. Next I made a quick sketch.
Since it's cold and I have to crawl over the tiles I will set the timer at 1 hour and stop it if I am disturbed, have to take photos, can't continue or write for this post.

To win some time I wil not mix the colours first. I'll see if I can change them while painting or with different layers. The paint I will use is old but I want to finish it first. The new small tubes I rather save for something else.

I started with the grass (at the bottom) and used a debit card. This went fast. It took me less than 5 minutes.

I love the result of the debit card

The second part is the sky. I doubted the colour, but decided to just use it and take a sponge. Man, was it dry and of course, the new spraying bottle refused to spray! I poured water on the palette and dipped the sponge with paint into it to rub it everywhere on the background, while trying to ignore the ugly part up in the corner on the left. This sponge is too old it leaves crumbs behind. I continued painting since the timer still ran and stopped after the sky was done. I have to get rid of these little sponge parts before I continue!

The blue took me less than 8 minutes (irritation included).

I wiped off the crumbs with a dry flat brush.

Two colours red I used to make the flowers. A plus if the blue sky is that it changed red into purple. The dark red I once mixed (no idea when) it was hard to make it thinner. This results in clumps. I tried to dissolve them with water, but the result was minimal.
I painted the flowers with a piece of sponge. Next time, I should make a test flower first, because I notice that the further I get, the better it looks.

39 minutes and 55 minutes left to finish these paintings. I already know that this will be hard (impossible)

The cats... I find it hard to paint them. My vision is not good. Again Intake the debit card to add the Black and some green again. While painting, I pull it onto my lap since there's hardly room to sit around it, plus my knees feel extremely cold. Ying and Yang would be great but I doubt the titanium white will do it's job. If this had been watercolour paint I could have left this alone.

22 minutes left and I have no clue what to do since the paint is wet — I am out of ideas.

Let's use some pink to kill time and see where it takes me...

And yes, I am disturbed again.

The time is up and this is how far Is came. The eyes aren't done and I do like to add some more details

Conclusion:
It's possible to make ten paintings in one hour if you just paint, all your paint and brushes or whatever you need are ready. More than once, I grabbed paint I couldn't use, and my brushes were not at hand (at least not if I use the floor to paint instead of a desk, easel or my lap).

@aellly you are so right, it's impossible to do this if you travel unless you paint nano art and use one colour and a waterbrush.

@almaguer... Here's your answer to "How is art?". Fore the painting time was too short to loosen up. I need way more time. It was fun at a certain point, and it went easier till the moment I was disturbed again.

@flcg Here's my second try. The first was with watercolour. With some (I kept it small and needed extra time to use the hairdryer) I liked the process but altogether it's 👎
Once I reach the level of free painter, I let you know.
Painting on walls might be better to get into the flow.

What I liked most about you is that you didn't give up, despite the irritation from the factors. It's moments like these that show what works and what doesn't, that's progress, even if the result isn't "finished" as planned. The end result is interesting, even though I don't understand much about art 🐾🎨

For now, I still haven't entered the room because it's cold. Let's say I am very stubborn and what's in my head I like to start with at once and will end! Just the faces a bit and removing the tape today. Next, I can take those ten and paint elsewhere.

Just be careful not to freeze to death because of the art :)

To be honest, I don't like your painting. I'm a sincere man.

Although it's by far not finished, it's totally fine not to like it. There's no need to say you are sincere since I know you ar,e and I don't feel insulted or sad.

Let's see how the artwork turns out. I have to post something else. I think all contributions are welcome; we'll like some more than others, as is normal. Keep it up! I think it can be a good painting... or is it finished?

Thanks for your tips and ideas!

As I wrote I didn't make it within 1 hour. The cats aren't finished and it's only one layer.. you know what that means.. I let it dry and see if I can continue it today. Once the first layer is finishe I will remove the tape. This way I have 10 painting which I will finish one by one. If you ask me it will take one week or two to finish them all.

As I was thinking what to do with it next a Dutch song came to mind: weet je wat ik zie als ik gedronken heb? Beestjes, allemaal beestjes.. .I believe it's for Carnival.

(Do you know what I see if I am drunk... animals, little animals everywhere.. they are crawling everywhere.. on the floor, on the ceiling, all over me...)

A new idea... I still work on hair... unlike what @aellly says it's difficult. For sure also because I work partly in the dark (and don't see much), work too small or whatever.

What can we post next? We can pour paint or use water to make it flow (watercolour, acryl or ink?) ... how about making some dots and spots a shrink can use? We can ask people what they see (might be interesting). LOL

Just one colour.. black or? (for sure the colour influences what people see as well). Let me know what you think. we can share 6 or 9 spots.. they can be small to save paper (no one can see it if you take a photo of each spot).

Everything with cats is enough to like it to me 😆 🐈
