Today, a spine-chilling tragedy occurred in my city, Lucknow. A coaching center in the Aliganj area—with a capacity for 200 students—was the site of this incident. Students aged 20 to 24 were inside, studying in the library. These were young people with aspirations—they wanted to soar, to live their lives, and to do something meaningful for their parents and families. They were studying for a better future. Their lives were snatched away, and their parents' dreams were shattered.
A fire broke out due to a short circuit; it was so terrifying that while some students managed to flee, others could not. Fifteen students lost their lives on the spot. The building lacked adequate firefighting resources and essential safety equipment. Negligence cost these children their lives; in a bid to save a little money, safety measures were ignored, and profit was prioritized over human life. These children fell victim to that greed.

I am watching the news on social media and seeing parents wailing in anguish. Seeing their children in such a state is enough to kill a parent; it is a fate no one should ever have to witness. Parents go to great lengths to ensure their children don't even get a scratch, yet today, these young ones were scorched in a horrific blaze.
To save themselves, some students locked themselves in rooms or bathrooms, while others tried to climb down using electrical wires. One student jumped from a window and landed on an iron grille, breaking his spine. In moments like these, the mind stops functioning rationally.

It took 45 minutes for the fire brigade to arrive. It seems human life holds no value in their eyes; how could it take so long? Fifteen students were trapped in that inferno while their families wept helplessly. I am at a loss for words; the pain is immense. May God grant peace to their souls.

I am feeling so sorry for them as this is not the first incident of this kind but students and future of this country preparing for their better career are forced to study/work in unsafe places. This is not only your city but I know every nook and corner of this city, so I am even more disturbed. May God help face their families this sorrow which will haunt them forever RIP!
