Incredible India Monthly Contest of June#1: Social Responsibility!
My View on Social Responsibility |
|---|
When I think of responsibility I see it as something we all must do for the people around us. It's understanding that we're not alone and our actions can make society better or worse.
Growing up in Nigeria I've seen struggles. There are kids who can't afford education elderly people with no one to help them and communities that suffer because everyone thinks the government should solve all problems. These experiences have taught me that a good society is built when ordinary people contribute in ways.
As a student of Criminology and Security Studies I've learned that keeping society peaceful isn't the polices job. We all have a role to play. Reporting things protecting public property helping those in need and spreading awareness are all forms of social responsibility.
Should Community Service Be Our Responsibility? |
|---|
I think everyone should do some form of community service. It doesn't have to be big or expensive. Sometimes just helping someone or joining a up event can make a big difference.
A community that doesn't help each other will lose its values. I think humans have achieved much because we can work together and look out for each other. We're strong because we can cooperate.
Does Charity Make Us Rich? |
|---|
I agree that "Charity makes us rich " but not in terms of money. When we give to others we become rich in kindness, experience, relationships and appreciation for what we have.
I once saw people struggling with things I'd never faced. It made me realize how lucky I was. Helping others removes pride and teaches us humility because we see life from another persons perspective.
Some people give for recognition. I think true charity comes from wanting to improve someones life. A small act of kindness can inspire others creating a culture of compassion.
Final Thoughts |
|---|
Social responsibility isn't about changing the world. It's about making a difference, in our small way so someone will smile, learn, grow or feel safer because we cared.
If more people stopped asking, "What can society do for me?". And start asking, "What can I do for society?" our communities would become better for everyone.
Do you think social responsibility should be a choice or something every member of society must do? I'd love to hear your thoughts.
I would like to invite some friends!!
