In my opinion chosen to serve on a selection panel should meet criteria that ensure; competence, trust, and fairness. Relevant expertise in the field should be the first thing to consider. The second thing to consider is integrity and impartiality, meaning they can make decisions without favouritism or personal bias.

The third thing to consider is strong communication and analytical skills to discuss candidates objectively and make candidate choices. Also, members should have a professional track record that reflects ethical behaviour and responsibilities.


According to you, how significant is checking the background when selecting anyone for anything? Justify your viewpoint with an example!

Background checks are very significant because assessing the past behaviour of someone gives insight into future conduct. Also selecting someone without reviewing the person's history can expose the organisation to unfair decisions, reputation damage, or risk.

Conducting a background check help verifies one's qualifications, character, and experience. For example, I own a school and employ someone as a teacher without conducting a background check and I ended up discovering the person falsified his or her credentials and had a history of misconduct at his or her previous schools.

The qualities that I would glance at while selecting anyone are; character, attitude, and competence. I will look at competence more because it ensures the person has the knowledge and skills to perform the task.

As for character I will look at it because it reflects honesty, accountability, and respect for others, which makes people trust. I will also, look at the person's attitude to know the person's willingness to work, learn, and cooperate.

The ability to communicate properly seems to be a lost art today. People forget that communication is only complete when both the speaker and those spoken to understand properly so yes, this is a must have criteria.
