The April contest #2 by sduttaskitchen: Situationship!

Think of going to see your friend, you enter a bus and tells the driver the name of the location. Deep down you haven't gone there before but you have just the address. As you went inside the bus, you are not even sure if the bus will go to your destination. But you enjoy the breeze a little, at the same time you fear that he can drop you at a wrong place. That's how situationship is. It's sweet for one moment, but it's confuse because you don't know where it will carry you to.

Situationship is that kind moment or process which hang between friendship and relationship. You can eat suya together, gist like couple, even do some romantic things, but when a person ask, "Are you guys dating?” everybody will look the ground. As if you are playing football match but referee never blow the whistle.

For me, situationship is like half bread. It's better than hunger, but it won't ever full the stomach. You enjoy companionship, but you can't plan future with it. It's as if you build house on the sand, rain can fall anytime and scatter everything.

Back then, relationship was clear. A guy will toast a girl, a girl will accept, everybody will knows that they are dating for marriage. But now, social media have scatter everything. People do fear heartbreak, they fear commitment, so they prefer to be inside situationship which doesn't have label.

Pros of Situationship:

• It's sweet because there's no pressure. You can enjoy companionship without heavy responsibility.

• You'll have freedom, you can still do your own things without too much problems.

• It give chance to test waters before you commit fully.

Cons of Situationship:

• Confusion do full ground. You won't know whether you two are serious or it's a play.

• Heartbreak will be hidden at the corner because one person can catch feelings than the other.

• No future plan at all.So you won't be really sure if this person will still be by your side in the next tomorrow.

• Sometimes it's a waste of your time. You can spend years walking with a person which don't have plans for you.

However I'll compare it just like eating out sweet jollof rice that doesn't have any meat inside at all. So I will It will still fill up the stomach, but it's not complete at all without the meat.

However Children do learn from what they see. If the father and mother are inside healthy relationship, children will grow with confidence and love.

Healthy relationship can give children:

• Security: children will know that love is stable, not to be sweet today, and bitter tomorrow.

• Good Example: They will learn how to treat people with respect and care.

• Emotional Balance: children won't fear or be confused. They will know how to express feelings without shame.

• Future Foundation: children will grow with mindset which is strong, they won't jump from one situationship to another.

But if the father and mother are inside situationship or toxic relationship, children will be confused. It's as if you are teaching them mathematics with wrong formula. Tomorrow it will struggle to balance life.

My viewpoint is that: healthy relationship is a foundation for children future. Situationship can be sweet for adults that fear commitment, but it won't be good as example for children.

Situationship is like a half bread— it's better than nothing but it won't ever be satisfied. Relationship is full of package which gives stability, joy, and future plan. For children, it's healthy relationship that build strong foundation for life.
