Take for example you are sitting in your compound reading some books or pressing your phone, kids are also outside playing ball at a corner. Suddenly, one of the kids kick the ball and it came straight to your head. At that point you really got angry and hold the ball. All the kids run up to you and begin apologizing and pleading for you to release the ball to them. Then you look at all of them and said why you guys didn't be careful while playing?, don't try this next time.” They all nod thier head, and next time they will play the ball with more sense. That small you give them is criticism. But wait o, was this an insult? correction? Or it's an advice which is bitter but still sweet?

Let's see....

How does one interpret the term "Criticism"? Please Explain!

Criticism simply mean when a person talk about what you do, either good or bad, to show you that it was better or mistake. For example criticism is like when your friend tell you, “Guy, this your shirt fine but it doesn't match your shoe.” That doesn't mean he hate you, he is just showing you that improvement is possible. Sometimes criticism do come in a harsh way, like when your boss at the office shout at you saying “This report is nonsense!” Other times it can be soft, like when a mother says “My son, next time add more salt in the soup it will be much better than this.”

Criticism is a two-face moment. One side can be bitter, another side can be sweet. But in all it's a way of pointing out what can change or improve.

Do you believe that constructive criticism is essential for fostering improvement? I would appreciate your perspective on this matter.

However If a person doesn't correct you, how would you know that you were wrong? Constructive criticism is the type which can build you up, not the one that will scatter your confidence. For example, if a teacher tells a student, “Your handwriting is not clear to read, but if you practice everyday, it will be fine and readable,” that one is a constructive. It's shows problem, but still give solution to it.

Without constructive criticism, improvement will be hard. Imagine a mechanic fixing a motor but nobody tells him that the sound is still disturbing. He go think say everything is okay. But once the customer says “This motor is still making some noise, please check it again,” it's that words will push him to do better.

So yes, constructive criticism is very important. It's like a bitter medicine that cure sickness. However if you really want to grow and improve then you must accept it.

Provide an overview of the advantages and disadvantages associated with the criticism.

The Advantages of Criticism

Criticism as a lot of advantage if a person knows how to use it well.

  • Encouragement to improve: When someone point out your weakness to you, it will ginger you to work much harder.

  • Better performance: Constructive criticism will make you to sharpen your skill. That's why a football coach do shout for his players, so that they can play better in the next match.
