The diarygame 30/6/2026, Army Day Celebration
Greetings wonderful steemians, today your friend @ikechukeu77 is here with a diarygame, The Army Day Celebration At Our Church (St James Catholic Church Afi Barracks Ikom, Cross River State Nigeria) and I would love to thank the owner and fellow coordinators of this wonderful community like incredible indian for giving me the opportunity to share my diary today 🥰.
Today at our Army barracks we celebrated all the Soldiers in our church, it's the Army Day celebration at St James Catholic Church Afi Barracks Ikom, Cross River State (Nigeria), Every year, this occasion brings together members of the parish, military personnel, all our families, and visitors in a unique atmosphere of faith, gratitude, and patriotism, Long before the Mass begins, the church compound is filled with excitement as people arrive in their best attire, while soldiers proudly wear their uniforms as a symbol of their dedication to serving the nation.
The celebration usually begins with a Holy Mass, reminding everyone that true strength comes from God alone and only God himself, During the liturgy, special prayers are offered for members of the armed forces, asking God to protect them as they carry out their difficult responsibilities in the world as a whole, We also remember those who have sacrificed their lives in the line of duty, praying for the peaceful repose of their souls and for comfort for their families,Our soldiers joined the entrance procession, read the Scriptures, present the offertory gifts, and sometimes form a ceremonial guard. Their discipline, respect, and sense of duty blend beautifully with the sacred atmosphere of worship, reminding us that service to God and service to one's country can go hand in hand, and remembering that God is our protector.
After the Mass, the celebration continues with speeches given by the commanding officer of 245 battalion Afi Barracks Ikom, cultural presentations, music, and moments of fellowship. Parishioners have the opportunity to interact with the soldiers, thank them personally, and learn more about the sacrifices they make to keep the nation safe, These conversations often inspire young people to value discipline, integrity, courage, and selfless service in their own lives as a whole.
For me Army Day celebration especially meaningful is the message it leaves behind, It reminds us that peace is never something we should take for granted but we should hold it in our lives today, Behind every peaceful locations our soldiers work tirelessly, often under dangerous conditions, to protect lives and preserve order, from danger 🥰, the Church encourages everyone to pray continually for peace, justice, and wisdom for those entrusted with the responsibility of defending the nation, and the R.v preached for peace and unity.
For me the Army Day celebration at St. James Catholic Church is far more than an annual event, It is a powerful reminder that faith, unity, and service can bring people from different backgrounds together for a common purposes, Each celebration strengthens our appreciation for the sacrifices of our armed forces while encouraging us to become responsible citizens who contribute to building a peaceful, compassionate, and God centered society in our world.
For me the army is one of the most important branches of a country's armed forces, Its primary duty is to protect the nation from external aggression and maintain peace and security within the country's borders whenever there are called upon, Soldiers defend the integrity of every nation, guard locations, support law enforcement during every emergencies, and help prevent threats such as terrorism, banditry, and Boko Haram (in Nigeria) Through their discipline, courage, and commitment, they ensure that citizens can live, work, and pursue their daily activities in safety and makes sure that God always comes first in every war, my Dad always tells me that what he always carry on his mind as a Nigerian soldier is God first.
Beyond defending the nation, the army also plays a vital role in our daily lives, Soldiers also assist during natural disasters such as floods, provide emergency rescue operations, distribute relief materials to affected communities, and support peacekeeping missions in conflict areas. They contribute to national development by helping maintain stability, Their dedication, sacrifice, and willingness to serve, even at great personal risk, make the army as a whole a symbol of selflessness.
For me the military's work often requires courage, discipline, sacrifice, and a strong commitment to serving the nation, While their responsibilities can involve difficult situations, many of their contributions help promote security, provide assistance during emergencies, and support the well-being of our communities in the world.
The celebration was not only an opportunity to honor the sacrifices and achievements of the military but also a moment to pray for peace, security, and national progress in the whole wide world, and for me events like this inspire gratitude for those who serve selflessly and encourage everyone to contribute positively to their community through faith, responsibility, and service to others and the reason why I love soldiers as a whole is that there don't care about their lives to save others in the world.
The entire corpers (NYSC Members) also can with their uniforms to celebrate our soldiers and our fathers because today is their day.
I would love to invite 👇
