Selfish Leadership

I really do not know where to start my write up from. Lately I've been writing based on the prompts I receive from within and this is one of such. I've been seeing a recent trend in my country which is quite alarming and disheartening.

The value for life is fast diminishing, human life is almost worth nothing in this part of the world that it can be taken deliberately by some wicked soul, humanity is gradually fading away in this part of the world. We wake up with different headlines everyday of persons or groups of people who were unalived for no reason.

And sometimes I ask myself, at what point are we going to say enough is enough. I know you want to ask me what the present government is doing about it. I wish I had a very good answer to this question but no, perhaps they are busy preparing for the election which is around the corner to continue with their incompetence.

What's the definition of leadership once again, is it to elevate ones political status or prove a point that you can also assume a seat of authority. The basic definition of what leadership is has been long lost over time. Service to the people you claim to lead should be a leader's first assignment which includes the protection of lives and property, other things are secondary.

It is quite unfortunate that we now have leaders who care less about the people they claim to serve. I'm not very surprised that some of them would even turn out to be the inhumane figure we see today because they obviously bribed and rigged their way through and now they feel they owe the masses nothing.

They are comfortably watching things escalate and go from bad to worse under their watch...it doesn't bother them as long as they are not directly affected by the unfortunate occurrences around them. They make policies that further sponsor their personal and selfish interests, inflate budget so they can loot with ease...

When the masses raise their voices to condemn certain things, they either turn deaf ears or come out to give an insensitive press release, which leaves so many questions in the heart of those they claim to serve. The painful part is that these people never see their incapability and how ineffective they are, occupying such a seat of power.

Maybe in a very civilized country, such a person would have taken a bow and honourably vacate the seat for someone more capable to handle the current situation of things. Well, the reverse is the case in most black countries, an average leader in the black continent is prone to abuse of power.

You know what they say about power that absolute power corrupt absolutely. Where is the lie my friends, I thought the power they have should be used to effect positive change but nah... I'm writing with a heavy heart because a whole lot is happening here almost on daily basis. Our security system has been heavily compromised.

What do we then do since we are law abiding citizens and are not allowed by law to take to arms or incite the masses to do the same which is the right thing anyway but for how long will the masses fold their hands and allow themselves to continually be at the mercies of these socalled bandits and terrorists

At this point, we all just have to look up to God to deliver us from this present day horrible reality where people go out and just hope they would be able to make it home to unite with their families...May God help us at a time such as this in my dear country... Pray for us friends, Nigeria Need God's intervention.
