My journey last weekend was quite interesting and the reason is not far fetched, I had my first experience traveling by Train. I hope you're not about to laugh at me, well, you're free to only if it's your regular means of transportation. For me it was my very first time.

Come to think of it, the train station is not somewhere I can't even go to book a ticket for journeys outside the state but it has never occurred to me as a person to go through that route. In fact the journey by train last weekend wouldn't have been possible if not for the sudden change of plan we had.

We were supposed to journey by car from Ibadan where I reside in, to Ogun state, Illaro to be precise for a wedding ceremony but we discovered later that it will be better if we go by train so I had to concur and do my return ticked booking while a friend of mine did our booking for the journey to the place.

Of course we set out before 7am that morning because the train was to leave by 8am. We got there a few minutes to 8am, located our seat as every seat had numbers for easy identification and ease of administration. People book at different locations across different stations where the train would pass and the use of these numbers helps people identify which seat is available.

While we sat there I took out time to take a shot of we three, in fact I just wanted to capture the moment as much as I can. You would notice that the inside looks hazy and foggy, that's due to the fact that it was fully air conditioned, making me want to freeze. Guys! I'm allergic to cold, I don't like it when I'm exposed to it. Not when I'm not even prepared for it just like in the case of this journey.

In about 10mins we left the train station, it was quite soothing to see how the train slowly moved and began doing it thing, everyone sat there minding their own business, those who came in groups were there gisting and having fun while others kept themselves busy with their mobile devices.

As we approached various stations to drop and pick people, a general announcement was made to inform those onboard who would like to alight, and at the same time, people were being on boarded, so this happens simultaneously. Everything feels quite organized and that's the part I love, but if you ask me the part I love the most about the journey, it's the fact that they run strictly on schedule.

You could literally miss the train if you delay for just a minute. Since we have this knowledge, we told ourselves we weren't going to take any chances that would cause a delay during our return to the station and back home. When we disembarked, we quickly boarded the vehicle that took us down to the wedding venue, that was about an hour journey altogether

We got there but the event had not started, we managed to take some pictures for memories even as at this point the couples were not anywhere in sight. We had concluded that we won't stay longer than planned, even if we have to leave the ceremony mid way and that was exactly what we did.

We left around 2:30pm because we wanted to catch the train by 5pm. I know you're wondering why we had to leave early. Well the answer is obvious we didn't want to take chances. We got to the train station two hours before the take off time of the train which to me is quite cool because we can't afford to miss it nor begin to make alternative plans that we never intended.

We got back to Ibadan just in time but the weather was already cloudy and about to pour heavily, it eventually poured while we journey back home. It was such a beautiful experience for me. I guess I would have to start considering traveling to neighbouring state by train because it feels safe and interesting.
