Maturity. This is one word that have been given different meanings depending on an individual, his understanding of it and how he or she applies it.

Many young ones believe they are mature because they know some things; technology wise, more than their older parents or guardian. But can that be said to be the meaning of maturity?

The contest with the topic Experiences come with age or circumstances will do much in helping us explore this topic.

How do you define maturity?

Maturity can simply be said to mean that a person or thing has reached its full development potential.

For humans there are three basic maturity forms we can attain to, which forms the basis for saying that a person is mature.

° Physical maturity -

It is that time in life when you realize that your body is not the way it used to be some years back, that you need to slow down and recognize that nothing is worth much more than life itself. At that point we give our body the attention it deserves and the needed rest as well. So taking care of our body will be the topmost priority.

° Mental maturity

This is that time when we are courageous enough to accept and admit our mistakes being ready to apologize. Not only do we accept and apologize, but also ready to correct that mistake. At that point too, we will be able to say no to things we don't want to do and clearly decide not to be concerned with things we don't want to know.

° Emotional Maturity

This occurs when you realize that you alone are responsible for your joy and happiness. Learning that you don't expect people to change or behave the way you want them to act. Rather your attitudinal change to circumstance like this can bring more emotional joy and happiness to you irrespective of others behaviour. So to grow emotionally, we need to rely on ourselves and be the cause for our joyous nature.

So from my perspective, when a person attains to these stages of maturity, that is when I look at the person as being mature.

Well it is generally believed that with age comes experience. However, this is strongly dependent on an individual. For so many, with the passage of time and when, they become quite experienced in life. Sometimes too, a persons circumstances can make him acquire experience but remember that when not applied with other maturity factors, wrong decisions can be taken.

The age factor comes with having learnt or cultivated great qualities like patience, kindness, understanding, tolerance and ability to let go. These great qualities can only be learnt over time and when combined with experiences makes the individual a mature person.

So both factors work together.

Do you believe older people can also learn so many things from youth? Justify.

For sure, the answer is yes. No one persson possesses the entire knowledge. The era the young people are living in is quite different from the ones the older ones witnessed. So if they are to move on and also help these young ones, they need to learn from them.

For example, the younger generation knows more about technological development than older ones. That is the basis for communication presently. So the old ones needs to learn to understand these young minds in order to flow with them and learn about ways to assist them too.

Conclusion

Age, experiences and circumstances faced in life, can all contribute to the maturity of an individual. But I know we have heard the phrase A fool at 40, meaning that despite ones age, he has not attained to a level of maturity.

So we need to grow, cultivate appealing qualities that combined with experiences in life to make us a mature person.
