Teachability: Is this person teachable or are they stuck with their ideals?? The world is fast changing and even the best learned still need to change or up things from time to time so this will be the first thing I’ll be looking out for.
Attention to details: World Scandals have been caused by 1 mistake or oversight that wasn’t supposed to go out. So anyone i choose will be one that’s able to do a work thoroughly without mistakes and even when there is, it shouldn’t be one can cost us.
Relevant Skill qualification: Depending on the job type, relevant qualifications will be a must.
- Can they do the job for which they are to be selected??
- How well can they perform at the task?
- what’s their reference like??
In cases where they don’t have references, a probationary period will certify them.
- The most important criteria will be integrity.
Do they have it? Or are they men of disrepute??.
I would pick a man of integrity that can be taught skills over a skilled man who lacks integrity.
Background check is very important because I believe a lot of the issues people go through are from their backgrounds and if they can only check they would know what they’re fighting against. This applies in all spheres of life be it in career, life or choosing a spouse.
There are families where they are cleptomanic and this has passed down to their children’s children and affects their profession because there’s always a case of something stolen. Now this issue dates back to their ancient fathers who stole something and was cursed with a stealing spirit. Years later, their background is affecting their life,and profession so yes, background checks are very important as it reveals a lot about a person(s)
The process of selection is very crucial as it is the doorway to quality or carelessness. Here are a few qualities I’ll glance at:
- Proficiency: How competent are they at what they do? From business to choosing a spouse, and everything in between:
- Can you communicate properly?
- Can you handle anger and conflict in a mature way?? Etc, these traits are important for every sector.
- Character : Who are they when there’s no surveillance or no one is watching???
- Are they honest or do they lie?
- Are they consistent??. Do their words match their actions??
- How do they handle things when there’s no direct benefit to them??
- How do they treat others?? Older, younger, superior, subordinate etc. This tells a lot about who a person is.
- Teachability:
- Can they be taught or are they stuck in what they know??
- How do they handle corrections ?? Etc
The selection process whether for a job, partner or career navigation is one of the most important and it’s crucial that it’s made logically and not emotionally so as not to have big issues later. I invite @asma-khan @crismenia @blessedlife to participate in this.



I strongly agree with you. Skills can be learned over time but integrity is something that defines a person’s true character. A skilled person without honesty can damage an organization and relationship. On other hand a person with integrity can be trusted and trained to improve. Your emphasis on teachability and character also makes the selection process more balanced and wise.
