Yesterday, in an effort to alleviate my physical discomfort, I took medication.
I sought to distract myself by watching a comedy film,
as it is often challenging to experience genuine laughter in solitude without any particular reason.

While browsing through Netflix, I encountered a series titled

"Single Papa!"

which piqued my interest. I began by watching the trailer to evaluate whether I would find it worthwhile to continue with the full feature, and I found it quite enjoyable; thus, I opted to watch the complete film.

The narrative centres around a character named Gaurav Gehlot, portrayed by Kunal Khemu, who is the main protagonist. The opening scene depicts a couple in a courtroom, seeking a divorce. The premise, though humorous, addresses a practical issue: often, children who are excessively indulged by their parents develop capricious mindsets,

as their desires are frequently met regardless of their rationale.

In the story, Gaurav believes he has fallen in love and subsequently marries a woman who soon realises that he remains somewhat immature and dependent on his parents, akin to a child still requiring parental nurturing.

I have included a link to the trailer on YouTube, where the character's spouse humorously remarks that he receives pocket money from his father. While this concept is presented in a comedic light, it reflects a more profound concern: many children struggle to make independent decisions because their parents continue to perceive them as incapable of maturity.

Following his divorce, Gaurav Gehlot visited a bar with a friend. Upon returning, he discovered a baby in the backseat of his car. Given that it was late at night,

He determined to take the baby home, intending to report the situation to the local police station the following day.

Gaurav quickly formed an attachment to the infant; however, later that night, he noticed that the baby's lips had turned blue.

That prompted him to rush the child to a hospital, where he learned that the baby boy was suffering from a small congenital heart defect.

Gaurav signed the necessary paperwork, and the doctors proceeded with the operation that night. During the procedure, he experienced a profound sense of affection for the child. When the doctor later informed him that the operation had been successful and the child was no longer in immediate danger, Gaurav returned home to rest.

Upon his return, he communicated to his parents his desire to adopt the child, whom he named "Amul," derived from the box in which the baby was found. However, his parents were not in agreement with this decision, and in the midst of this discussion, a call from the hospital informed him that police officers and the head of an orphanage were present.

The orphanage's head, a woman, expressed her reluctance to place the child with a single man. Thus, the narrative of Gaurav's journey through the adoption process became a central theme of the series, and I will refrain from revealing further details.

Significantly, the series challenges the prevailing notion that motherhood is inherently more capable than fatherhood,

presenting a compelling argument that parenting is a responsibility that transcends gender.

I found the series both engaging and enlightening, as it invokes the idea that in our modern era, we must reassess our understanding of gender roles and the nature of responsibility, especially as illustrated by Gaurav Gehlot's experience as a
