The November contest #2 by sduttaskitchen| Me and my weekend!
1 Weekends are necessary in my everyday-life routine, as they are a break in the pace, which could be difficult on some days too much to bear. In the tedium of work-work-work-do chores-stick to a routine, the weekend serves as a “break” button that lets me recharge, sharpen my focus and realign with what matters most. The best thing about the weekend is not just that I get to rest my body, but that it also lets me rest my mind. These usually two days in my life give me some time to pause and contemplate on my life, acknowledge mini accomplishments and face the upcoming week with an optimistic mind.
I love the weekend, but of course, there are moments when I get that urge to-do more work! It’s not that I want to give up rest, it’s that some duties get piled up and tidying them up in peace is a good idea. Still, I try not to let that work consume the entire weekend. Because if you spend those two days doing the same things that you do on weekdays, then what’s the point of having a weekend? Balance is key for me – doing a little work here and there is fine as long as I still give myself enought space to breathe both physically and mentally.
My dream weekend is where I get to choose my pace of living for the day, and not by the clock, and not by the call of duty. What I'd really like to do is to wake up sans alarm clock and sip a hot drink while I commune with the early morning quietude. When all is said and done I want to do things that lighten my mood - maybe read a book, watch a movie I've been wanting to see, take a leisurely stroll somewhere soothing. If at all possible, I'd like the opportunity to make the occasional brief retreat to the outdoors -- a lake or a forest or some such -- just to get back in touch with the land.
By the end of the day, my perfect weekend wraps up with a reunion with my nearest and dearest--family or friends--for casual chat with them engenders a particular warmth that never fails to melt me. At night, I want to go to bed early being happy that I have given me some room to breathe.
So the weekend is not just a holiday but also a refill of vitality and inspiration and balance.
