The System Should Not Be Your Problem:
Okay, it's been about two months now since this strike kicked off. It's left most of us students to begin to feel like there is really no hope for us in this country again.
I really understand this feeling. But one thing's for sure. The truth about the whole matter is we can't really do anything about the system. The administration is very poor and I don't think anybody is ready to listen to what any student has to say. This shouldn't be your problem. We should all try not too worry to much even though it is hard. There is still hope.
You have every right to be angry about the strike but you shouldn't blame your unproductiveness on the government. School is really cool but it isn't everything. Although it is hard, I try my possible best to think of this strike as an opportunity. Opportunity for what, you may ask? Well, it all depends on you.
- Get a job. Any job at all. It's better than doing nothing. There are many jobs that don't need certification.
- There are countless skills to learn. Please, pick one up and work on it. You can even improve on a skill you already have. My piano playing has tremendously improved these months. I also take some online courses to learn new skills.
- Start a business for yourself. It may be hard in the beginning but surely you will reap the rewards.
- Study your learning materials. Studying must not be bound to the school. You can always study anytime and anywhere.
- Involve yourself in charity movements. Not only will you be helping yourself by being active, you will also be helping others who really need your help.
I promise you that if you do any or all of these, you might not even remember the strike. We didn't ask to be in Nigeria but, then again, here we are. Let's make the most of this setback opportunity and prove to ourselves and everyone else that the faults in the system are not enough to restrict us from getting better.
Thank you.
Steem On!
Rightly said we ought to look at the positives
Don't linger on the down side of things only then can we truely be happy.
