As you can see in the picture, different things happen during the day than at night.
Even though most of us go to sleep at night, it does not mean that everything stops. Some people work at night time or in the early morning hours and some animals only come out during the night.

Some people's jobs can carry on into the night. Think about a doctor and nurse. Who will look after sick people if they do not work at night? The police can also work at night and also ambulance drivers. A baker gets up realy early in the morning to start baking bread.

If you have to work the night shift, you must sleep during the day when other people go to work, otherwise you will be very tired at your job and not concentrate on what needs to be done.
Some animals are active during the night. Animal like this is called nocturnal animals.
There are different reasons why some animals are active during the night and rest during the day. It is cooler at night to come out and eat, especially animals living in the desert, they can hide better if they are looking for food at nigh or they can see better at night if they hunt.
Examples of animals that are nocturnal are cats, bats, owls, mice and jackals.

- You can also use clay or dough and make any nocturnal animal you want. In the video you will see an idea to make an owl. (if you want to use any other material like paper you can do that, or just make a drawing is also fine - this is your choice)
- Run around and try and move like a mouse, a bat, a cat an owl, a snake, a lion when somebody calls out the names of the different animals
- Here are some examples of nocturnal animals - you can colour it or re-draw it and colour it if you want to.
