A SHORT LOOK AT THE LAST DAYS OF WINTER
The winter is almost over, I mean officially ... unofficially it looks like spring for quite some time now ...
... and I'm often walking here in the area around my hometown ...
... surrounded by flowers ...
... these are cherry plum trees in bloom ...
... some branches are still covered with unopened buds.
Coniferous trees don't have these lovely flowers, but they do have some elegantly shaped cones to display ...
Processionary caterpillars have built a relatively large communal nest using their silky threads ...
... and this is an elegant work of some potter wasp.
The terrain around the pines is stony, and plants that grow there are pretty scrubby ... like this dandelion that has grown small and entirely horizontal, unlike the dandelions on the nearby meadows with thick brown soil. It's a small stony hill and strong winds also played a role in shaping the plants like this small dandelion. Besides, there is a great view from that hill ...
... especially on a clear and sunny day at the end of winter ...
... from here I can even see distant mountains covered with large patches of snow, sometimes ... and that's it, as always in posts the photographs are my work - THE END.
Beautiful flowers! But the views of those mountains are just incredible! What are the names of those mountains?! Are you looking towards north into Switzerland?!
Hehe no, it's a look southeast, the mountain range is called Velebit, part of a larger Balkan mountain range called Dinaric alps that begin in a small eastern corner of Italy and end in Albania ... but it looks a bit like Switzerland from a distance ... only from a distance
