Feeding Everyone is the Only Proper Stance
Of course, when most liberals hear this subject said, they instantly think, "See? Communism is better than Capitalism!" Because, Communism states that they want to feed everyone equally.
However, as much as it hurts the neo-liberals heart, it must be acknowledged that Communism starves people. It does not matter what good rhetoric comes out of politicians' mouths, it matters if people are eating. And we must recognize that Communism, as practiced in a govern-cement, starves people to death. Every time.
Capitalism has its own problems. The rhetoric here is that if they are hungry, they should work. But, the capitalists will not admit that there are not jobs for everyone. There are no quick to get jobs that will pay you to buy food, now. The "capitalists" have sent the jobs overseas. That said, capitalist countries grow enough food. And with charity, most people get fed.
We really need to understand how these systems work, and why. We also really need to comprehend what the corruption in each system is. Because, although we may think that any person would want to see everyone fed, that is not the case.

Giving people food is one of the worst things we do
By providing food to "poor" African nations, we have made them dependent on The US's giving. Not only that, we have destroyed their food industry.
A farmer could set themselves up with some chickens, get a chicken coop, buy some feed… but they can't compete with free. Therefor, no farmer raises chickens, because the Americans will come along and drive them out of business.
Similarly, if you have a person who just goes to a soup kitchen to get all their meals, they rarely do what is necessary to get and keep a job. (now, honestly, many on the bread line CAN'T do either of those things. They do not have the brain wiring to stay structured enough to show up to a job every day. But, the rest of the people would rather just stand in the line for food. It is so much harder to get out from the bottom. It is a long way before you start making money, especially an amount of money that is better than just living on the soup line.
But, if we don't give them food, then so many people are going to die.

There are some people who want you to starve
We could feed everyone, and do it very profitably. But, there are people who do not want to see that. T.H.E.Y. would rather have people starving, because, when you get people down to that level, you can control them with food. A starving man will give you all their gold for a meal. A starving man will do whatever you tell them to do, for a sandwich.
Fortunately, you can't do this straight out, or you will see a bunch of HAngry people tearing down whatever you put in the way. But T.H.E.Y. are very good at being subtle. Play bad cop, good cop with food, and you can get your mark to love you, and see you as their god, their savior.
T.H.E.Y. do not care about you, or me. T.H.E.Y. want you controlled. And so, T.H.E.Y. will do anything, spend any amount of money to keep you on the edge about food. T.H.E.Y. will engineer shortages. (kill off the chickens, because of "bird flu". kill off the cattle because of cow farts/greenhouse emissions.)
T.H.E.Y. have no qualms about what they will need to do, and how much harm T.H.E.Y. will cause.
To combat this, we need to expose them. But, we also need to train people to recognize that these things aren't coincidences. That there indeed, is a group of people out to kill them.

Only feed people who at least tried to grow food
To feed everyone, we need everyone to have a plot of ground, a greenhouse and water to grow food. We must make sure that no one is denied the basics for growing food.
And then, everyone grows food. Everyone becomes a part time farmer. (part time is all you need to grow food for yourself.)
People are no longer going to fall for the "we're hungry, give us food, or your a meanie ploy". What we will see is something like, if you honestly tried to grow food and something bad happened, we will give you food. If you do not grow food, we will not help you out. (this is why the first sentence is that everyone must have access to a space to grow food)
Now, people who all grow food, together or separate, will be very sharing with their crops. Do you know how many zucchini you end up with from a single plant (that didn't die from borer beetles, or mold)? Way more than a single person can eat before they rot. So, what you see is a lot of giving. Not really bartering, but finding people for all your excess. When you butcher a cow, that's a thousand pounds of meat. Of course you give some away to all your friends, or have a BBQ.
But, people who do not grow food will be pushed out of society. The growers of food will just not trust/deal with non-growers. Unless that person is very important to you, most people will not take on the responsibility of feeding another. And it really won't be about money.

We will no longer think in terms of communist or capitalist. Most communities will be something like a meld of both. Taking the good stuff from each, and discarding the rest. We may even think up completely new community paths / economic systems.
There will be many reasons why each person needs to grow their own food. Who will grow your food better than you? Who will make sure your food is up to your standards? Who will make sure that no unknown poisons are on your food? (these will be real concerns) Plus, growing your own food makes it much tastier, and much more nutritious for you.
With each person growing their own food, then each person will not feel obligated to someone else, or be controlled through their belly by others.
Now, all those thought forms about how we should share/disperse food or all moot. If everyone can grow food for themselves, than each person is reliant on themselves, and faces the consequences of their actions, or lack thereof.
Things are going to get a lot better.
