The Diary Game: Training Games Pizza and a Life-Changing Surgery
Greetings of the day,
This is @alfazmalek from #India,
Today was Saturday, and it turned out to be a very productive as well as enjoyable day at the hospital. I reached the hospital in the morning and started my routine work. Saturdays are often busy because many educational activities and training sessions are scheduled on this day. I was looking forward to the day because an external healthcare company had arranged a special educational program for our nursing staff.
The first major activity of the day was a training session on Chemotherapy-Induced Nausea and Vomiting (CINV). This topic is extremely important in oncology care because many cancer patients experience nausea and vomiting as side effects of chemotherapy. During the session, the trainers explained the latest approaches to preventing and managing these symptoms. They discussed risk assessment, patient education, medication management, and supportive care strategies. The session was very informative, and our nursing staff actively participated by asking questions and sharing their experiences from clinical practice.
After the training session was completed, I wanted to make the learning environment more interactive and engaging. Therefore, I organized a team game for the staff members. The purpose of the activity was not only entertainment but also to improve communication, teamwork, and decision-making skills. Everyone participated enthusiastically, and it was wonderful to see the staff enjoying themselves while learning important lessons about collaboration and problem-solving. Activities like these help strengthen team spirit and create a positive workplace culture.
As the day progressed, lunchtime arrived, and I had arranged a small treat for the team. To appreciate everyone's participation and hard work, pizza and cold drinks were distributed among the staff members. Everyone gathered together during the break, shared conversations, and enjoyed the meal. These simple moments often help build stronger relationships among colleagues and create a friendly working atmosphere. It was satisfying to see everyone smiling and enjoying the break after a busy morning of training and activities.
Following lunch, I continued with my routine responsibilities in different departments. The hospital remained busy with patient care activities, and several clinical discussions took place throughout the afternoon. As healthcare professionals, every day brings new challenges and opportunities to learn, and today was no different. The combination of education, teamwork, and patient care made the day both productive and meaningful.
In the evening, we handled a particularly interesting surgical case. An elderly grandmother was admitted with a fracture in her foot that had been causing problems for nearly two years. Because of the long-standing nature of the injury, careful planning and assessment were required before proceeding with surgery. Our surgical team worked together to perform the procedure successfully. Seeing the patient receive the treatment she had been waiting for over such a long period was truly rewarding.
The surgery was completed smoothly, and the patient was shifted for postoperative care and monitoring. Moments like these remind us why healthcare is such a meaningful profession. Every successful treatment has the potential to improve someone's quality of life and reduce long-standing pain and discomfort. It is always satisfying to witness the positive impact that coordinated medical care can have on patients and their families.
By the end of the day, I felt grateful for everything we had accomplished. From learning during the CINV training session, enjoying team-building activities, sharing pizza with colleagues, and finally participating in a successful surgery, the day was filled with valuable experiences. I returned home feeling tired but happy, knowing that the day had been productive for both the healthcare team and our patients.
THANK YOU
