The dairy game 05/02/2026. Me and my little daughter Participate in Eradication of Polio campaign.

This is a the first round of integrated measles campaign, in Akwa Ibom State. I was eager to join on save the lives of children in my community. It is on no news that measles virus is among leading causes of death among under 5 children.

Two weeks ago, we attended a training, where facilitators helped us to see the need of immunizing our generation. We all know that measles is a highly contagious viral infection that is caused by measles virus. In severe cases, it leads to muscle weakness or paralysis and difficulty in breathing.

One of the facilitators encouraged us to advise mothers on the route of transmission of measles because if they don't know, there will always be a spread of this disease.

It has two major routes of transmission which is fecal oral route, this could be through contaminated water, food or poor personal hygiene. It can also be contacted through direct contact with an infected person.
One major ways of preventing measles is through vaccination and Good personal hygiene.

We see that measles can be eradicated through vaccination campaign and improved environmental sanitation.
The programme was 10 days, it commence on 4th to 13 February 2026 plus,2 additional day for Mop up

On Thursday 5th February 2026. Being the second day, I decided to take some moment, just to remember the second round.

I woke up early, prepared my favourite meals, which is White Rice with Stew. I arranged my second daughter and then went out together after meal. My husband will take care of our first daughter.

In less than 10 minutes, I arrived at the health facility. I saw other team members at the cold chain office collecting vaccine.
Thereafter, the ward focal person addressed all the teams on how to carry out their work successful.

She re-emphasized on (VVM) Vaccine Vial Monitor, house marking, Use of community map, Accurate Daily implementation plan (DIP) and current Fingers marking.

Each team member three members, one supervisor, one vaccinator and Community mobilizer. Each team member has a role to play which we all know them.

Our target population was children under the age 0-59 months and children 5-14 years. We did it from one house to another, searching for this young ones at playgrounds schools and churches. But mostly, we sit on a temporary fixed post.

At work

Remember in any health programme, our target is to save one's child as expected of all health practitioners to avoid children's deaths.

On that Sunday, we visited different churches and vaccinate lot of children. This is one of the places we children and parents most on Sundays. point we see children.

We go with at least 10 vials of measles rubelIa, which each contain dose since we are giving two drops per child, this simply means that one Vial or a bottle is for 50 children.

While enjoying the work with my beautiful daughter, Boom! rain started and so we decided to take a break till the rain calm.
We waited for about 45 minute anywhere.
Thereafter, we continued our work till 2pm that we closed.

We went straight to health facility, getting there we met other team members, who also returned. We related our experiences and talk about non-compliance. We also submitted our data report to the in charge which includes the total number of children immunised, total number of household visited, total number of children we met at playgrounds and churches. We also reported on the AEFI.
Adverse Events Following Immunization.

After reviewed meeting, snacks and soda drink was given for refreshment but even with that, I was still hungry. I rushed back home, freshened up and enjoyed the remaining rice and stew.

Fortunately, for me my husband was at home, he assisted in taking care of my children and play with them using their toys. I took rest for a while and gisted him about my day.

It is my delight to share my day with you. I love savings humanity though a nursing mother. I thank God for my baby as she corporated throughout the time while. I know she enjoys the slow trekking around the environment.

Throughout the 10 days, I captured only few day but all other days full with different fun moment.
