SFS Contest: Your New Year Resolutions
New year resolutions are fast becoming a "myth."
Hello everyone. Welcome to another week with this amazing contest organised by @ashkhan. I’m glad to share my thought with you here.
New year resolutions are gradually becoming a myth to me. Personally, I feel the name is nothing but a label that makes people feel justified for procrastinating some things that would’ve been done now to their more comfortable time. That is, if that time ever comes to pass.
New year resolutions are important, but not to everyone. I say this because there are people who are just too occupied with other activities they have going, or deadlines to meet, and they schedule other things for the new year.
This tells us plainly that these people are already hardworking, and may not have enough time to execute effectively and efficiently other things. Reason for the push.
So, for the ones who are always busy, I would say new year resolutions are for them. But the ones who always find excuses to keep procrastinating and waiting for the "perfect time" to start something, I can boldly say new year resolutions are not for them.
For the coming year, I expect to do and achieve a whole lot. Next year is going to be of more of investing in my life and future.
For my academics, by the grace of God, I’ll be rounding off my first degree next year, and that’s a resolution already.
Not just to finish, but to be satisfied with what I started and went through with.
About getting jobs, I’m not really bothered about that for now.
Instead, I wish to acquire more skills that complement what I am and have already. I have started a Digital Advertising and Marketing online course, and I wish to finish it by next year, probably in the first quarter of the year.
Readily ready to work
After that, I would like to volunteer to work with brands to give me more hands-on experience on my skill. I’ve always loved business, and marketing to be specific, so this course is going to be one beautiful achievement by next year.
After completing the online course, I’d like to cement the knowledge with a physical training, which is whyy.mimd would not be solely about getting paid jobs, but to volunteer.
My third resolution would be about my social media presence. I would love to build a strong social media presence on at least two social media platforms.
Storytelling is a a part of me, and I would want more people to know that about me.
I started blogging on Steemit about two years ago, and looking back, I would say I have no regrets. But then, I would love to do more. Even if I don’t become the best here, I would want to become a better and consistent steemian, and establish my presence here.
Spiritually, I want to deepen my faith in God. I cannot leave this out.
This year has been one of my best years since I was born. I have actually achieved both significant and insignificant blessings and achievements that I’ll forever be grateful for.
My course mates and I on a movie project
This year, I took a bold step of appearing on the screen as an actress. It was actually a school project, and that afforded me the opportunity to see how a movie is done, from the scratch to finish.
Also, it was a beautiful experience to cover a story in Mkpat Enin local government area, a town in my state that suffered from power outage for seven years almost. It felt so good interacting and writing about their culture, means of livelihood, and a little touch of their history.
Practicing journalism was a dream come true that moment.
At Girls' Brigade Camp
Asides that, I had made plans to attend this year’s Girls' Brigade training camp. School had taken a whole lot from me that I hardly had the time to refill spiritually. So I said to myself that was not happening this year, and I thank God I succeeded.
Would like to invite @akareen @josepha and @beevicsam to participate in this contest.

New Year Resolutions!
For me, I see them as a map to guide us to where we desire to be. You have listed so many endearing activities like completing your education, learning a skill and building your online presence.
These areas are very relevant, especially since you are a young person who is starting out.
I must agree that steeming has not been in vain. I bet you do look back and feel happy for your growth just as I felt yesterday about mine.
Some say new year resolutions are irrelevant. But I do not think so. Yes, it might be difficult to achieve everything, especially when you have not sketched out an actionable plan or overwhelming yourself with tasks, but this new year activity remain profitable when done right.
All the best in the contest.
I wish you invited me to it though.😢
I couldn't agree less, dear.
The best strategy always provides the smartest way of working towards our goals intentionally.
That's when we have things done the right way.
I'm so sorry I didn't mention you here. My bad.😁
Won't forget you next time.
