Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu, (Peace be upon you) I hope everyone is doing well. I am also doing well, Alhamdulillah, by the infinite mercy of Allah. I feel very lucky to be participating @ashkhan Managed in the second week of the Steemit Challenge for the first time. This week's topic is Physiofit; Swelling Reduction Challenge. So without further ado, let me try to share my own experience on the topic of today's competition.
Task 1: First you need to share your knowledge about swelling, its types and pathophysiology. (Explain only 4 types which do not require extensive knowledge) |
---|
Due to the accumulation of excess fluid in a particular part of our body, that area becomes swollen. In our medical language, this is called edema. This happens in our body for various reasons. Especially due to sudden injury. You are going to work in a hurry and suddenly your muscles get tense, this problem also occurs. Again, in some cases, when we go to do something in a hurry, our leg suddenly sprains. Again, in the case of someone, if there is a kidney problem, if there is a heart disease problem. But this problem is seen easily.
Signs and symptoms of the affected area |
---|
Blood flow to the affected area becomes limited.
The affected area appears much more swollen than before. When you touch the affected area with your hand, the area feels warm.
Pain is felt when the affected area is gently pressed with the hand.
The affected area becomes much redder than normal.
Swelling1 Local swelling: This type of swelling is usually seen in a specific part of our body. This type of problem is usually caused by straining our muscles, and in some cases it is seen due to sprains. This problem also occurs due to minor injuries. Due to this, our ankles, wrists, knees or elbows become swollen.
2 General swelling: This can be seen in almost every part of our body. In a word, there are as many joint points in your body. You can see this symptom in all of them, it usually happens to those of us who have kidney problems, heart problems. But due to their failure, our body generally swells.
3 Acute swelling: This comes on suddenly in our body. That is, when you suddenly pull your body muscles very hard or you fall while walking somewhere, this acute swelling is caused due to additional injury. It usually stays on our body for a day or two or a week. After that, it goes away automatically if proper treatment is given. In some cases, it is usually due to allergies, or due to sudden additional injury to the body.
4 Chronic swelling: Chronic swelling means that our body is swollen for a long time. It is caused by many types of problems. When excess water accumulates in our body, it gets stored in the tissues. Due to which our hands, feet and face are almost always swollen. In some cases, this problem is seen due to thyroid problems. In some cases, this problem is caused due to kidney problems. Liver problems, heart problems, one thing can be said if these devices in the body do not work properly. Then chronic swelling remains in our body.
Pathophysiology |
---|
It is usually seen that excess fluid in our body leaks out of the blood vessels and accumulates in our body tissues.
If the lymphatic system in our body stops working, or is unable to work, then it is never possible to remove this fluid from our body.
Another problem we may face is if our body has heart, kidney and heart problems. If these things do not work properly in our body, then fluid accumulates in our entire body. Due to which our body gradually starts swelling which lasts for a long time.
Task 2: You need to find a patient who has symptoms and share a history of injury or illness. If you have recently suffered from an injury that has been accompanied by swelling, you can also share your history. |

In this case, I will share my own story with you. About three days ago today, a huge mango tree fell down next to our house. Since I was alone at home, I had to do some work alone. I got pain in my ankle due to excessive running and cutting the branches of the mango tree. That is, my foot was completely sprained, due to which my ankle was completely swollen.
At first I didn't really pay much attention to it, because I thought it was just a little strain and it wouldn't be a problem. Maybe it was a sprain, it would heal after a while, but at night when I was getting ready to sleep. I felt like I couldn't move my ankle. Which was actually quite uncomfortable for me. Then when I tried to look at my ankle with the light of my mobile phone. I saw that my ankle was extremely red and the area was very swollen.

What I did then was discuss the matter with a physiotherapist I know. He told me that the problem was actually getting worse due to the use of ice packs, along with my excess weight. In short, I couldn't walk. I used ice packs and he told me to take care of my feet and to recover, I need to walk normally for some time. In short, he wanted to convince me that I need to rest my feet and then my ankle will get better.
Alhamdulillah, I have been trying to rest my ankle for the past few days and following the advice he gave me. I am feeling better now than before, but the pain is still mild, so it may take a long time to heal.
Task 3: It would be good to apply the physiotherapy management mentioned above to treat the patient's pain, share videos or pictures during the treatment, and review after the treatment. |

I sprained my ankle while working too fast. So now I must follow the physiotherapist's instructions, the most effective of which is the RICE protocol, which basically means ice, rest, compression, and elevation.
- 1 Ice: - First of all, I think that in the injured area, you should use an ice pack on the ankle, i.e. the affected area, for 10-15 minutes three to four times a day for two days, i.e. 48 hours. Due to the application of ice, our blood vessels contract and this helps in the circulation of blood in our ankles, and reduces the swelling to a great extent.

2 Rest:- The ankle should be given complete rest for the first few days. If you try to walk, you will feel pain. At the same time, the swelling of the ankle will increase. And if those of us who have a lot of body weight walk for the first few days, then an infection can occur in the foot. So, at least these few days should be rested. So that the injured tissue of our ankle gets a chance to heal gradually and we can recover in a short time.
3 Compression: - To reduce the swelling of the ankle, we must use an elastic bandage. This bandage will create a slight pressure in our leg. Which will make our blood circulation very compressed. However, when you apply this bandage to the leg, you must be careful not to tie the bandage too tightly on the leg, as this may cause blood circulation to stop.

- 4 Height: - One thing we must keep in mind is that while sleeping, we should keep our ankles between pillows or some high place. So that our ankles are a little higher than our heart, that is, our waist. This will help the fluid accumulated in our ankles to rise upwards and will reduce the swelling of our ankles to a great extent.
If we can do these treatments regularly, then within a week or two, starting from the pain in our ankles, the swelling in our ankles will decrease a lot. I have been doing this treatment for about three days now. Inshallah, the pain in my feet has decreased a lot compared to before, and the swelling has also decreased a lot. I hope that if I do this for the next few days, I will recover very quickly.
I would like to invite three of my friends to participate in this competition. @adese @samhunnahar @jakaria121 You all participate here and share your valuable opinions with us.
