Ulog #245: Charcoal Grill Satay Closed!

This satay store has been open even since I can remember eating food. From high school to now in my 30s, I have always had a go to place whenever it comes to eating some charcoal barbecue meat on a stick. But just before the corona virus outbreak, this place changed hands to another vendor and the quality and taste of the food is night and day.

Man was this piece of meat on a stick good.

Satay is basically 3 pieces of meat on a stick and this place did meat-fat-meat. Most places do all lean meat or better cuts of meat like better marbling as it can get pretty fry cooking over live coals. This place did the perfect balance by having a whole piece of fat sandwiched between 2 pieces of meat.

Turning it frequently, you get crispy edges of charred meat as well as a tender juicy piece of fat all in one bite.

They serve it with some classic roasted peanut sauce that's slightly sweat but mostly savory that's chunky in texture and creamy at the same time. It's also loaded with herbs and spices so it taste nothing like peanut butter. A spiked peanut butter if you'd put it.

But I'll never get to eat this again since it's closed down and due to the virus outbreak, being in F&B myself and I can't open my food truck since my country is in a lock down, I think many business will either struggle to survive or will be force to close shop permanently.

At least I've got some pictures to remind me of how it used to taste like :D
