Question 19

🍲 Food and Drink 🍹

Which of the below Ice Creams is the odd one out and why?

quiz-w11-q19.png

Hint: If we were in the 19th Century, my selection of ice creams would have been different, but the reason for identifying the correct answer would remain the same.

Hint: People from Napoli wouldn't eat one of these flavours.

Of course No 3 (Pistacia?)!
Strawberry, Vanilla and Chocolate are classics - all this modern stuff is not… 😂

Good night… dreaming of MILKicecream… 🤪

👎 Ha ha! Well, I'm afraid that is not the answer I'm looking for.

Can you make ice cream from sheep's milk?

Can you make ice cream from sheep's milk?

Ja.

Yes, write me a business plan and you're in biz!

I have tried to make ice cream popsicles with sewn rings and yuca flavored with strawberry.

It tasted like a wet sponge and strawberry soda.

I guess it is No. 4, because of the pattern of the waffle.

 last year

👎 I might even suggest that the waffle isn't the ice cream... 😉

I got an ice cream cone maker recently to go with my ice cream maker. Combined, it's quite a lot of effort but the results are amazing!

 last year

Okay, I guess the answer is that there are two cones in No. 3. So you can better eat the ice cream without dripping down. That was already the case in the 19th century.

 last year

👎 The answer's unrelated to the cones. It's all about the Ice Cream.

think it's the 1.

Because the ice cream ball at the bottom is not round, it gives me the impression that the one on top will fall.

 last year

👎 The answer is unrelated to the shape of the ice cream or how it is positioned on the cone.

 last year

I'd say strawberry (1) is the odd one because it's the only fruit-based flavor, while the others come from nuts (pistachio) or beans (vanilla and chocolate).

 last year

👎 The answer is unrelated to the ingredients used to make each ice cream.

No 1
Started at the bottom left and counted counterclockwise, we see one scoop of ice cream, two scoops, three scoops. So, logically, the first image should contain four scoops of ice cream. But there's only one... 🤷‍♀️

 last year

👎 The answer is unrelated to the number or size of the scoops in each cone.

Hint

People from Napoli wouldn't eat one of these flavours.

It's option 2️⃣

  • because it's made with sheep's milk
  • or because it's supported by cables
  • or because it's the only one that no one has mentioned so far.
 last year

👎 It's none of those options. I'll add a clue...

Hint

If we were in the 19th Century, my selection of ice creams would have been different, but the reason for identifying the correct answer would remain the same.

It's definitely Pistachio (3) - because it doesn’t belong to the classic trio of vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry that was popular in the 19th century.

 last year

👎 Whilst you're there-ish, you're not there enough to be correct. Primarily because in the 19th Century, Pistachio would have been one of the classic trio.

In the 19th century, it was Pistachio–Vanilla–Strawberry and now Pistachio replaced by chocolate, so the odd one out is Pistachio

 last year

👉 In this context, what is "it"?

 last year

So, it's still Pistachio - because it used to be part of the original Neapolitan trio, but it's no longer included in the modern version.

 last year

✅ That's what I was looking for! Neapolitan Ice Cream is Vanilla, Strawberry and Chocolate - no Pistachio in sight.

In the olden days though, it was Pistachio, Vanilla and Cherry, to depict the colours of the Italian flag. Then the Yanks got at it.

 last year

Easily the most fun question so far - learned something new and got ice cream cravings. Still, my favorite flavor’s missing… matcha 😋

 last year

👎 I'm afraid you're not quite there.

Time to hop in a time machine!😈 If Pistachio isn’t the odd one, then it has to be Chocolate (4), since it wasn’t among the original Neapolitan trio.

Me right now with those ice creams

No 4
Chocolate ice cream was known in the 19th century but rare, as cocoa was very expensive.
Strawberries, vanilla, and pistachios were common ingredients.

 last year

👎 That's not it.

I'll drop another hint as I head to bed...
