Steem Engagement Challenge S6W3: My High school Experiences

Hello everyone, welcome to this week's engagement challenge and welcome you to my blog.

High is also known as secondary school here in Nigeria. This is a period of a child's life between 10 to 16 years to acquire education though the years are not strictly stated. After this education, a child is ready to go into college (university) to acquire a profession.
I am also privileged to attend high school and wish to share my experiences with you all.
I attended Government College Nasarawa, Nasarawa State Nigeria.

What things did you dislike in high school?

Back in high school, we observed labour (cleaning and clearing of school compound) every Wednesday for three (3) hours. That was what I disliked however, I had no option but to join to keep the school clean or I get punished.

What was your horror experience at school?

I used to be an introvert back then which made it difficult to express my self.
There was a day the classroom wasn't slept and it wasn't my turn but because I couldn't defend myself by expressing my side of the story, I was forced to sweep the whole classroom and was asked to kneel outside the classroom which was so horrible and embarrassing to me.

What was your unforgettable high school experience?

My unforgettable high school experience was the day I was punished by a group of senior students who claimed we didn't greet them before passing.
Yes I attended a boarding school and the senior students have authority just like the teachers. The difference is just that the senior students wear uniforms and never teach any subject.

What was your unforgettable experience when you entered high school?

Water scarcity. The town I did my high school had very high scarcity of water which makes students and residents to wake as early as 4:00 am to go in search of water.
Even when my school drilled a borehole and an old well at the kitchen, it wasn't still enough for students so we had to roam the bush at that ungodly hour looking for water to bath and wash our uniforms.
Thank God Nigeria was safer back then and we could roam in the night without any fear of kidnappers or bandit.

What happened to this day that you can't forget?

It's an unforgettable experience that whenever I come across people complaining of water shortage, my mind travels back to high school.

What life experiences can you take in high school?

Discipline, cleanliness, and punctuality.
High school taught me those and my life is moulded with those experiences and I'm still practicing them.
