Good morning from this end and welcome to my another blog today. Today I want to share with you few reasons you should add water leaf in your meal.

Waterleaf is one of the most underrated and insignificant plants in Nigeria today. Many people consider it a wild plant that grows all year round.

However, this vegetable is known as the annual herbaceous plant of West Africa, which is common in many parts of Nigeria (especially South). It is called Gbure in Yoruba, Mgbolodi in Igbo, Mmonmon Ikong in Ibibio and Ebe dondon in Edo.

Waterleaf contains a lot of water and nutrients such as minerals, vitamins, crude fiber, lipids and more which make it very useful.

Some of the benefits that the body receives from the use of these vegetables is below:

ENCOURAGES A HEALTHY HEART:

Waterleaf, when eaten daily, plays a vital role in maintaining a healthy body. It helps to keep the heart healthy by controlling its activities; it also helps to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease (eg stroke) by providing adequate blood supply and oxygen in the required areas.

BLOOD DEVELOPMENT:

The raw protein contained in the water leaf is an important addition to both the quality and the concept of healthy food that plays a vital role in the human blood cell. It usually helps to improve both red and white blood cells.

ELIMINATED INFECTIONS AND DISEASES:

The use of this plant is often given in the treatment and prevention of health conditions such as malaria (when mixed with other vegetables or ingredients). For best results, the leaf should be soaked in juice to be extracted and taken orally.

REDUCES WEIGHT LOSS:

Waterleaf helps to reduce weight due to the amount of fiber it contains and should be taken regularly; used in salads or roasted at a certain temperature. Fiber content makes the stomach full thus eliminating the chances of craving for more food. Its water content is helpful in this, which puts it among the list of vegetables that should be added to our daily diet to effectively manage weight loss

Studies show that leaf water helps reduce constipation and helps digestion properly. For those with digestive problems they are advised to eat freshly cooked and soft-boiled water soup as it helps to activate digestive enzymes in the digestive tract and encourages you to empty your bowels.
