Unforgettable world cup match: Uruguay vs ghana

Uruguay vs ghana in the 2010 world cup in south africa is the match i will never forget and i can assure you that is the match that 70% of world cup games ghanians will never forget,it was the bigest night in the carrier of young footballers as uruguay and ghana was to go head to head for a place in the semi final in the 2010 fifa world cup,uruguay was playing in a light blue tranditional colours and ghana was playing in yellow and red colours.

Uruguay came out with a line up consisting of;fernando Muslera(gk), Diego Mugano(c),Jorge Fucile,Mauricio Victorino,Maximiliano Pereira,Diego perez,Arevalo fernandez, Edinson cavani,Luis Suarez and diego forlan thier coach was tabarez oscar. ghana too came out with a line up consisting of;richard kingston,hans sarpei,john pantsil john mensah(c),samuel inkoom,issac vorsah,anthony annan,sulley muntari,kwadwo asamoah,asamoah gyan and kevin prince boateng with coach milovan rajevac, and that was the first time ghana and uruguay meet with senior level. ghana was the light of africa at that moment,all the countries in africa put ghanan on thier shoulders because ghana was the only african team in the tournament at that stage.

The referee blew the whistle for the game to kick start, they started playing in the first half,both of the teams did very well but ghana was playing more well from th first 40 minutes and it was still on goalest draw not until the man who was playing his football at inter milan in italy then Muntari has the ball 35 yards from goal. Nothing seems to be on for him, so he unleashes a fierce low drive that skips past Muslera, What a magnificient goal it was on 45+1 on the clock in the opening half, ghana strikes,sulley muntari strikes and amazingly it was ghana 1 : 0 uruguay,meanwhile sulley muntari was brought in to the side because of injury of dede ayew and he was given ghana the advantage,it ende one nil in the first half in favour of ghana.

There comes the second half where ghana brought on to themselves a punishment cause by john pantsil in the ghanaian team when he foul fucile from outside the 18yard box,ghana was not lucky when then one of the best players in thattournament in the person of diego forlan pick the ball to play free kick, he clinically strikes the ball into ghana's net richar kingston the goalkeeper could not get near it and it was ghana 1 :uruguay 1.

The match became intence on both team as to whether who will qualified to the next round of the tournament,the refree blew for full time uruguay and ghana could not separate issue at the end of the 90minutes,30minutes was added to them simply to get a winner who will move to semifinals,there came a free kick given to ghana at the last 30seconds to go to penalty shoot out,the free kick was cross in and there comes adiyah who head the ball through the polls of uruguay but it was been block by luis suarez hands and that was a clear panalty.

He was been sent off and that day reminds me of maradona the handball god,asamoah gyan picks up the ball and he was having an oppotunity to send ghana to the semi finals, he kick the ball from the penalty spot and it hits the bar then the refree blew the whistle for clossing of the 120minutes and goes for penalty shoot out.

Ghana lost 4:2 to uruguay and it took the south american into the semi finals,africans hearts were finaly broken in 2010 but it was uruguay who advance on penalty kicks.
