The End of the Road for Liverpool

in World Of Football ⚽3 years ago (edited)

It's been a very disappointing 2020/2021 season for Liverpool FC, I must say. So far, the REDS haven't achieved anything in this football year instead they have lost numerous players to injuries. In the English Premier League, the defending champions are even struggling to get into the big four but it hasn't been easy for them.

The likes of Manchester United, Leicester City and Chelsea are making it almost impossible for them to get a chance in the top four. Speaking of other English competitions like the Carabao Cup and FA Cup, Liverpool FC were long eliminated. Basically, it's game over for my dear LFC. But it's not completely over yet due to the fact the English Premier League is yet to be concluded. There are still about seven (7) more games before the EPL is being called a wrap for the season.

Should they win all their remaining seven games, it could be possible for them to enter into the big four. More so, just last night (14th April, 2021), Liverpool's last hope for a silverware this season was being dashed as Real Madrid proved to be a hard nut to crack. I'm speaking of the UEFA Champions League; Liverpool qualified to the quarter-finals and they were paired against Real Madrid.

In the first-leg played in Spain, Real Madrid won Liverpool by 3 goals to 1 where Vinicius Jr did shine. Vinicius scored two goals for Madrid while Asensio scored once. Liverpool's one goal came from Mohammed Salah. Fast forward to the second-leg of the quarter-finals, the game was a goalless tie at Anfield. Liverpool FC played better but Real Madrid didn't allow them score. So, on aggregate, Zidane's men won by 3-1 and as such, they qualified to the semi-finals and they will be playing against Chelsea FC.

I hope Liverpool can do better in next season.

This for sure hasn't been the best season for LFC, at least not if we compare it with last year and the year before! I guess they have suffered from injuries, and maybe it has become a closer race in the top in the Premier League as well. I am very surprised by how well Manchester United has been doing, and Chelsea has also gotten very solid after Tuchel came to London!

Anyway, will be interesting to see how Liverpool can do in the final matches of the Premier League this season.

Yeah! What matters most now is how they will end at the close of the football season particular in their domestic league
