As I imagine you all have noticed, there is a firm commitment to end fossil fuels sooner rather than later, but not all experts agree that we will be able to achieve it without a massive deployment of storage systems to be able to supply energy when atmospheric conditions are not favorable.

Now a recent study carried out by researchers from several universities not only denies this theory but also ensures that renewable energies are already prepared to take over from fossil fuels, they affirm that a combination of wind and solar energy could meet the needs energy companies in industrialized countries

The team of researchers studied hourly energy demand data in 42 industrialized countries during the last 39 years, from this study it appears that the switch to renewable energy could be easier for large countries that are located in lower latitudes due to mainly because they have more hours of solar radiation.
El equipo de investigadores estudió los datos de demanda de energía por hora en 42 países industrializados durante los últimos 39 años, de este estudio se desprende que el cambio a energías renovables podría resultar más fácil para países grandes que estén situados en las latitudes más bajas debido principalmente a que cuentan con más horas de radiación solar.
In the case of small countries in higher latitudes, depending on the country, it will not be able to obtain enough energy from these renewable sources, so it will be necessary to improve and increase storage technologies or seek other alternative clean energies such as geothermal energy so abundant in the Nordic countries.
En el caso de países pequeños en latitudes más altas dependiendo del país no podrá obtener energía suficiente de estas fuentes renovables por lo que se necesitará mejorar y aumentar las tecnologías de almacenamiento o buscar otras energías limpias alternativas como podría ser el caso de la energía geotérmica abundante en los países nórdicos.

Another interesting solution highlighted by the authors of this study would be the interoperability of electricity networks, if we take the case of Europe, for example, we could use the solar energy resources of southern countries such as Portugal, Italy, Greece and Spain and combine them with the abundant wind resources of the Netherlands, Denmark and the Baltic Sea region.
Otra solución interesante que destacan los autores de este estudio sería la interoperabilidad de las redes eléctricas, si tomamos el caso de Europa por ejemplo se podría utilizar los recursos de energía solar de los países del sur como Portugal, Italia, Grecia y España y combinarlos con los abundantes recursos eólicos de Países Bajos, Dinamarca y la región del mar Báltico.
Ultimately, according to Don Tong, lead author of the study, professor at Tsinghua University in Beijing, it will be difficult to totally dispense with fossil fuels, especially in some countries, but it will be possible when technologies, the economy and the will of our political class are aligned.
En definitiva, según afirma Don Tong autor principal del estudio profesor de la Universidad de Tsinghua en Pekín, será difícil prescindir totalmente de los combustibles fósiles sobre todo en algunos países pero será posible cuando las tecnologías, la economía y la voluntad de nuestra clase política estén alineadas.

As they are implemented and more countries adopt it, the more economical will be the use of these renewable energies. The planet is crying out for the relief of fossil fuels since we are approaching the point of no return in terms of the damage that is being done to the planet, the small and big problem is the agreement of the nations to make that change.
If the possibility of totally dispensing with fossil fuels in some countries depends on when the economy, technology and the will of our political class are aligned, it is better that we wait seated ...,greetings.
