INTRODUCTION (WHAT IS TECHNOLOGY?)

In my own words, I would say, technology is the application of scientific knowledge gotten through observation, research and testing to design/devise/create/fabricate new innovations to make humans live a better life by solving existing problems/issues.

A more standard definition; technology can also be defined as the result of accumulated knowledge and the application of methods, processes and skills used in scientific research and industrial production in order to meet our never ending wants and needs.

Of course, we see many technological products around us every day and we see how they make our lives relatively easy. We might not appreciate them to a certain degree anymore because we are now used to them but just imagine for a second if we do not have these technologies around imagine how difficult our lives would have been.
One example is our vehicles, imagine cars or any vehicle really had not been created, we would still be stuck with the olden days method of transportation using bicycles, animals (horses, camels), trekking etc. as a means of transport.
I know and agree with the fact that we should always look forward and help invent even newer technologies to solve other issues we are currently facing in the world today but at the same time let's appreciate and help conserve what we already have.

WHAT ARE TECHNICAL PRODUCTS?

Technical products, from the terms, we can already say they are products of technology. They are the devices designed from the application of technology.
Some examples are:

  1. Smartphones
  2. Laptops
  3. Headphones
  4. Printers
  5. Television
  6. Cameras
  7. Cars etc.

TECHNICAL PRODUCTS I USE

I am a big fan of the tech world and I love to try out and use the latest tech products, I even watch YouTube videos of tech product reviewers, they review latest tech products from really cool laptops to next generation self-driving cars. My favourite channel on you tube for tech related stuff is MKBHD by Marques Brownlee.

I am working hard so I can be comfortable enough and be able to buy all these really cool tech products we see in advertisement and on the internet.
But right now, here are the list of the tech products I use;

(1) A mobile phone: I own a Nokia 105 mobile phone; notice I did not call it a smartphone. It is considered to be among the class of the earliest generation of mobile phones but due it's durability and ruggedness, it is still very much popular and widely in use especially in my country, Nigeria.

I bought it towards the end of 2018 for about #6,500, equivalent to (#6,500/89.42) 72.7 Steem, but its current price is #8,500 about (#8,500/89.42) 95 Steem.

Here are some of its descriptions:

  • It uses Dual Sim
  • Has a Torchlight
  • In built Radio Phone
  • It has all the basic functionality of a phone, plus it is a classic rugged phone.

I majorly use it for making and receiving calls because of its very good battery life, it is almost guaranteed to never be dead and I won't miss any calls.

(2) A Smartphone: In today's every changing technological world a mobile phone with just some basic phone functionalities just won't cut it, would it? So, as you'd expect, I also own a smartphone, an iPhone 7 plus which I use to access the internet.
We all know how important and popular the iPhone smartphone brand is in the smart phone world. I am forever grateful to my aunt for getting me my iPhone. I've had it since 2018 too, not long after I bought my Nokia 105 phone.

I have kept and maintained it dearly since then, I know how important it is to me.
I use my smartphone for a lot of stuffs, including accessing my university courses material, surfing the internet, attending virtual meetings, taking online courses, chatting with friends and family via texts, audio and video chat, playing games (especially call of duty mobile, it's my favourite mobile game), writing and posting articles online especially here on Steemit etc.
Yeah, I think those are the major things I use my Smartphone for.

IMG-0128.jpg

What makes a smartphone or any device really like Laptops and the likes very powerful are the software installed on them, without these softwires, they are basically a machine converting electricity to heat if you think about it. It is with the help of software/applications that makes them really in demand and globally adopted.

With our smart devices we can now:

  • Make orders for any product we want to purchase right from the comfort of our homes.
  • Find our way around/locate any unknown location via applications like google maps.
  • Play really advanced and complex games.
  • Attend virtual conferences/meetings.
  • Communicate with our family and friends using Video, Audio and text messages etc.
and the list above is just to mention a few.

(3) Laptop: As an Engineering student in a tertiary Institution, my laptop is my 24/7 companion 😃. Of all the technical product I currently own, my laptop is the one I use the most.

I am using a HP laptop which my Dad bought for me back in 2019, I was the happiest guy in the world that night I got it. I was so in need of a laptop before then and when I finally got it, I couldn't be happier in that moment. I have been able to achieve tasks easier and faster on my laptop. I was able to complete my school projects from the comfort of my hostel, rather than going to cyber cafes to use their laptop. Life became relatively easier really.

I also started learning how to program not long after I got my laptop, and I am happy with how far I have come and pray for even greater progress.

The importance of owning a laptop in any student's life especially university students cannot be overstated and I would be forever grateful to my Dad for getting me my laptop.

(4) Printer, mouse, headphones, power bank and other phone and laptop accessories: Phones and laptops are great but on their own, ermmm not so great right? That is why accessories like printers, scanners, chargers, headphones and the likes exist to help give them more functionalities and power.

I do not personally own a printer but we have one in our house which I am free to use, it's a HP LASERJET printer. Since we got the printer in 2020, I no longer print at Cafés, I have been able to avoid Cafés and their annoying costs on printing. All my projects, paper works, I print them at home. I only have to go to cafes to print if I am not at home and I urgently need to print.

cameraRollTempImage.JPG

I own a B6S headset too, which I got in 2018 (still rocking it lol :)), I also own a Voguard power bank, people living in countries with stable electricity might not know or use power banks.
Basically, a power bank is made of batteries, USB ports and charging ports. A power bank stores electrical energy in its battery when charged with electricity and can later be used to charge devices like phones, lamps etc. I really cherish my power bank because it is serves as my backup to charge my phone when electricity is out.
Lastly, I own a mouse and of course my phone and laptop chargers too.

Yeah, I have mentioned the major tech products I currently own. As a huge tech fan, I obviously want to own more and even latest tech products like the Apple's MacBook, Tesla's self-driving cars etc. which is one of my motivations to keep working hard, so I can be able to comfortably buy these products I so desire.

Keep up the good work!
Good luck with the studies and the contest!

You have a very good presentation with all the electric products that you use. You use HP laptops, I used to use HP laptops once. But now I feel more comfort in computer and use it.

Thank you so much for the compliments. Yeah, HP laptops, I would say is the most common laptops you'd find around.

Thank you so much for reviewing my post, I really appreciate.

In today's world, virtually everyone is using the technology in one way or the other.
We can't actually do without technology now, because this is the technology age.
Nice and detailed article here.
I can see your varieties of technology from your post, you are actually on point.

Yeah, technology is changing the world more than we could have ever imagined.
Thanks for checking out my post.

Those early phones' battery life is just so good and that is why most people still buy them.

I enjoyed reading your post and I like how you structured it, well done.

True, their ruggedness too is on point. Thanks for the compliments and for checking out my post.

You are welcome

My favourite channel on you tube for tech related stuff is MKBHD by Marques Brownlee.

I used to watch him a lot too but this days I hardly watch YouTube and anytime I find myself there am doing different stuff.

The iPhone 7 up until this date is still a very good phone . Am not surprised to see a lot of people still use it . Even though it has stopped receiving latest updates it still feels like it is in the competition
