The T20 World Cup 2026 | Super 8
Hello, fellow Cricket Enthusiasts,
Well, we are almost at the end of the Group Stage of the T20 World Cup 2026, with just one game ahead. It's the 40th match between Australia and Oman, but it's just a dead rubber, as we have already decided the Super 8 teams. Well, I can't hope for a better start to the tournament with so many associate teams competing against the big fish. They all gave their best, and it was just thrilling and entertaining to watch.
Such a highly competitive tournament with everyone competing shoulder to shoulder!
- As I said ut of 55 matches, 39 Group stage matches have already been finished, with just a one match to go. Here you can see the points table so far!
- Well, do you like the 8 teams that go through? India, Pakistan, Zimbabwe, Sri Lanka, West Indies, England, South Africa, New Zealand
- Well, most of the teams are predicted, but one team destroyed all the odds, not just by advancing to the next round, but also by being at the top of the group. It's Zimbabwe. Sikhandar Raza and the crew showcased a big statement by beating mighty Australia, Sri Lanka, a nd the other two Associate nations. It's a historical milestone for them, and with the maturity they showed, they indeed deserve a place in the next round.
A few years back, they were beaten by Uganda and failed to land a spot in the 2024 T20 World Cup. But now, it's their highest achievement so far in T20 World Cups, and they'll also gain an automatic qualification for the next tournament in 2028.
- On the other hand, Australia was kicked out early by losing against Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka. It's not something familiar for this team, but it still happened. They came without their experienced pace trio, and others also seem not be in the best form. Anyhow, it's the second time, after they kicked out early in 2009.
- Out of 20 teams, Namibia, Oman, and Canada couldn't have a single win. On the other hand, Nepal, and Italy achieved their first T20I World Cup wins.
Most Runs
- Now familiar names have climbed the list. Sahibzada Farhan from Pakistan is leading the list along with Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis from Sri Lanka, Aiden Markram, and Ishan Kishan. There are three hundreds from Nissanka, Farhan, and Yuvraj Samra from Canada.
Most Wickets
- Shadley van Schalkwyk from the USA leads the chart with Varun Chakaravarthy, Blessing Muzarabani, Michael Leask from Scotland, and Azmatullah Omarzai.
Super Eight
- This is how two teams in the next round. Each team will play the others in the respective group in a round-robin format. From there, the top two teams from the semis will advance to the semi-finals.
