My home was built on a land which was owned by one of the star characters of Sri Lankan history "Keppetiopla Adhikaram's wife" (nope, not related to them. We just purchased the land). Land was a completely a jungle and there are no buildings except our house.

Few weeks ago current landlord cleared the land next to our land. Now it's my dog's and his doggy fellows' playground. One evening we followed our rascal to the cleared land. There was a strange looking mango tree. Tree is covered with tiny mangoes. These mango fruits are of the size of ping-pong balls. I did some research and found out that they are "Mee Amba".

I have heard some stories about Mee Amba when I was like 5-6 years old. Both my parents and their parents used love these tasty wild mangoes. In my 32 years of life I did not get a single chance to eat Mee amba.

Speaking of eating, actually you cannot cut it and eat. You need to squeeze and suck the juice out of it. Taste is way different than other mangoes we used to eat. And it is tastier when it is cooked.

I googled and found nothing about Mee Amba. If you know anything about it please be kind enough to share.

I also don't know many details. But I have eaten it once, it's tastier and smaller than other varieties!

Lucky for you!
