THE DIARY GAME:23/09/2020: Interesting day with field visit.
Hello friends! How are you?
Today was a very interesting day because of our filed visit. We arranged a field visit to the Negombo Lagoon. For our CDP we are going to develop that area. Negombo is one of the main economical city in Sri Lanka. Especially this area famous for fishing activities. Majority of domestic and exported fish product was provided from this lagoon area.
Today morning around 7.30 a.m. we left from the university. We collected money and bought our breakfast from the restaurant and we took it on the bus. Around 10.00 a.m. we arrive in lagoon area. Mainly we arranged this field visit for taking traffic counts, identify the environmental problems in the existing area and visit our site locations. We divided into the group and did the traffic survey for each and every directions and road. Purpose of traffic count is if we are going to improve road then we have to analysis that data and should proposed the suitable solutions for road size, junctions, roundabout and colour light.
Then we visit the existing area. In Jetty area lot of boats were anchored and also most of them are motorboat but a little number of the sailing vessel also seen in the lagoon area. We visited the fish market area and it is a totally improper market. Market buildings were damaged and there was no proper maintenance in the near past. Also, cleaning of the market was very poor. Huge health and environmental risk could occur due to that. Therefore relocation or modernization of the market was necessary.
After that, we visited our hotel project site. It was some far from the previously visited site. Then we went from our university bus from that location and take the relevant information which required for our CDP. After both two groups completed their works bus was left from Negombo and we came to university premises. After taking our lunch we came to our hostel rooms. I think that’s is enough for today. Today was some funny day comparing with usual boring days.
