Various impacts of providing free education
Dear friends, on this occasion I will explain the theme of education, namely the various impacts of free education.
For decades, education in my country, Indonesia, from elementary, middle to high school, has been free for every student. Of course, the government has disbursed funds in the form of school operational costs, which are quite fantastic amounts. Because of this assistance, the government has made education free in Indonesia with the proclamation of 12 years of compulsory education for the nation's children, namely 6 years in elementary school, 3 years in junior high school and 3 years in high school or equivalent.
However, various impacts arise from the provision of free education, including:
Positive impact
One of the positive impacts of providing free education is that it helps reduce poverty levels in society. With access to free education, individuals can gain the skills and knowledge necessary to create better job opportunities and increase their income.
Apart from that, the positive impact of free education is to provide the widest possible opportunities to the nation's children of learning age, so that they can get proper and quality education for free.
Negative impact
Perhaps the negative impact of providing free education is the opportunity for misappropriation of funds if there is a lack of strict supervision, as in many cases that have occurred in a number of areas, especially in my beloved country, carried out by various parties and certain individuals, especially education providers.
The next negative impact is a moral shift in society. Because they feel that education is obtained cheaply or even free, without any meaningful struggle values. So here the quality of graduates is something that may be overlooked, considering that this education is provided free of charge.
What happens next is the lack of responsibility of students and parents. In this case, the highlight that is no less interesting than free education is on the part of the parents and students themselves. Supposedly, by eliminating school fees, parents and students should be more enthusiastic about learning. They should maximize their quality by learning as much as possible. Now, with free education here, parents and students tend to be less responsible in taking advantage of this free education.
