Why Do Some Places Smell Different After Rain?

There is something special about the smell that appears after rain. A dry road suddenly becomes fresh, soil develops a strong earthy aroma, and gardens seem to release a completely different scent.

This smell is not caused by just one thing. It comes from a combination of natural processes that happen when rain reaches the ground.
