Werewolf: The Apocalypse - Earthblood bets on a third-person action RPG with some stealth moments. In principle, good ingredients. However, I have found the narrative to be too cryptic and lacks better contextualization of the uninitiated in their particular take on fantasy and lycanthropes. We play the role of Cahal, a werewolf who, together with his tribe, faces the evil Endron corporation in search of saving the planet and in turn his own family. Unfortunately the story is told in pieces, with some conversations with non-playable characters at different points on the stage and in our base that cannot be highlighted because they are especially well written, being, in many cases, totally expendable.

Nor do some script twists that turn the game into a kind of Sunday afternoon B movie, despite its reminiscent of Resident Evil in some ways. However, the story may have some meaning and it should be noted the existence of various endings in its last bars, something that, as I say, ends up being merely anecdotal due to the limited capacity that Werewolf: The Apocalypse - Earthblood has had to connect with me throughout the 8-10 hours it lasts.

The werewolf transformations

This mixed system could be justified by the possibility of, through the use of stealth, deactivating turrets, opening or sabotaging the doors through which reinforcements arrive. However, the inordinate power that unleashes our transformation into Crinos (a beastly werewolf) makes all this meaningless. Given the flatness of the commitment to stealth, I have opted more often to kill all enemies in bloody battles.

Because it is the part of combat that I liked the most about Werewolf: The Apocalypse - Earthblood without being entirely happy with the result. Fights always occur this way, as a human you never fight, and as Crinos you can land normal or heavy blows, jump and dodge to avoid the impact of blows or bullets. To use special attacks that you will unlock in a short skill tree you have to pay attention to the rage bar. This is a meter that can be filled prior to combat, executing guards from behind or drinking from a flask that are scattered around the stages. In the fight, this will be done thanks to giving more and more blows. As this fragmented bar refills, you can use devastating attacks or heal your wounds in combat.

The fact is that behind all this gray production coverage there are certain flashes, attempts to give some originality to the game. See some conversations that, if conducted in the right way, can avoid physical confrontation, achieving our goal through dialogue. The downside is that we do not have much information and some of them can feel like a real lottery by not knowing very well what to answer. In a specific segment, the game is limited and pulls a couple of Hitman-style missions, something that makes me wonder if this route had not been better for it than becoming too assiduously a mixture of musou and hack and slash.
