The activity we chose was reading together. I love to read but I’ve never had w experience of reading together with my sis, so we had to explore it as a family bonding activity.

Describe the chosen activity in details and how it was done

I’d like to say that a family that reads together stays together. Hahah. So this week, my sister and I decided that we would read together. I personally love reading but I haven’t done that with my sister before like I said. She also loves to read so it was a good time to bond through reading.

The book we read

The book we read is a book we both have. It’s the new book that our pastor wrote and it was recently launched in Church. So we both have our own copies of the book. It’s a Christian literature titled “deeper lessons in the new creation”.

It has six chapters and 45 pages. The book is t voluminous hence it was easy for us to read through it. So we read it turn by turn, we read it out loud and in a descriptive way.

I started by reading chapter one. So I read and my sister listens and follow along. While reading, I will pause to explain some sentences of paragraphs that had a good impression on me. Like expanding the subject on the context for easy comprehension.

I explain the insights I received from the pages of the chapter that I am reading and pause to ask her questions to ensure she’s following through. If there is a place she doesn’t understand, we would assume and throw light on it and then proceed.

Sis turn to read

She did the same thing when it was her turn. She read chapter two and explained while I listened. She expanded based on her insight and understanding and also asked me questions to ensure I was following through.

I did chapter three and five while she did chapter six. We didn’t finish this book in a day because with the way I described we had to read it, it took us from Monday to today to finish it up.

We were determined to not just bond with it but to learn and also use it as a means to enlighten ourselves.

Who in the family enjoyed this activity the most

The both of us actually did enjoy this activity together. Like I said, we are both book lovers so it wasn’t a struggle for any of us. Knowing you have someone who has the interest in what you also have interest in makes it enjoyable.

So we both had a swell time of learning from each others wisdom and asking questions accordingly.

What are the challenges of getting everyone together to carry it out?

The challenges were minimal. Initially my sister was skeptical because she hasn’t read with someone before. She prefers to do it at her own pace and time. I encouraged her and told her it would be an avenue to actually learn from each other outside the bonding too.

So at the long run, we were able to come to a closure and carried it out and she loved it too. It was a great experience and an enthusiastic one.

What are the gains and did it bond your family in a special way?

The truth by told is that we are too close to the people we love that we don’t really get appreciate their uniqueness enough. I was amazed at the level of insight and wisdom my sis was emitting in this special moments of learning from one another. It was so refreshing to see that she has grown so much intellectually and spiritually.

Apart from that we also had good moments of bonding, laughter and ofcourse learning. There was this close knit we experienced when two minds are exploring the same ideas and functioning in the same frequency. It was beautiful and was glad we took part in this challenge.
