Which of the activities above did your family engage in for this week and why did your family choose it?

Sis and I practicing gratitude

The activity we chose was practicing gratitude together. The reason we chose this activity was because we wanted to have an opportunity to thank God and be Grateful for all he had done for us.

Sometimes we are carried away with our needs and wants that we don’t get to be grateful enough or even make out time to Thank God for all he’s been doing for us or to even appreciate the people whom God uses to be a blessing to us. So we used this moment as opportunity to do that.

How was it done? Explain in details

To practice gratitude together, I and my sister had to take a moment to kneel down and thank God for all he has done for us. There’s a song that says count your blessing one by one and it will surprise you want the lord has done.

We sang that song to whether and then lifted our hands in thanks giving to God as we made prayers of thanksgiving to him, while recounting all he has done.

Sis recounting why she’s grateful

After that we sat down and began to enumerate the things we are thankful for. My sister started her gratitude by telling me how God saved her from an accident yesterday. I didn’t even know she encountered an accident on her way out.

She went to deliver a way bill for someone and she said that their driver packed on the road waiting for a passenger to come down and a trailer hit their bus from behind. She was grateful that nothing happened to any of them.

She also told me the story of what happened to her one of the days she was coming back from the island. Their bus had a flat tire and they packed on third mainland bridge to fix the tire. One rider that was looking at his phone while driving didn’t see the bus packed and he ran into their bus.

Just then another rider collided with the first rider and their motorcycle and the two men crashed into the main road. One of the men was fast enough to leave the road while the other one was still struggling to stand and a car ran over him and crushed his legs.

My turn to show gratitude

I shouted hearing this story. I had to join her in thanking God again because we don’t know the deliverance that God brings to us everyday we go out and come in safely. Indeed we really have enough reasons to show gratitude for our lives.

On my own part, I showed my gratitude by thanking God for my life. Last week I was really sick and after the lab test and all they said I have ulcer. I thanked God for providing for me the money to pay my hospital bills and be able to receive treatment cos I didn’t even have a dime when I initially went to the hospital. God touched some friends and my family to help out and for that I am very grateful.

I also saw some persons who were hospitalized in the hospital but I am walking with my two feet and healthy. I have every reason to show gratitude for my life and for provisions.

What challenges did your family face carrying out this activity? State the setting and any financial involvement

We didn’t face any challenges with our gratitude practicing. After all the stories above, it only came naturally because when there is life, there is hope.

Grateful hearts

Our gratitude practicing didn’t require any monetary value. We only had a good time paying and professing the reasons for our being grateful.

What gains or benefits did your family derive from carrying out this activity and who took the most active part in your family

Both I and sis took part in it even though she spent more time because of the two stories she told. It really opened my eyes to see the reason to be grateful for my life cos initially I was feeling down a little until she started telling all those stories.

I then saw that I am better off and therefore should be grateful for my life. Indeed we had a great time together and it helped us see life from a different perspective. At least we are not dead or hospitalized so we have every reason to show genuine gratitude to God. And we also saw. That practicing gratitude should be a daily life style and not seasonal.
