INTRODUCTION

When I attend some events, I often see some food garnished with sweet corn, green beans, carrots and garbages, presented to guests by the host of the events. The food could be presented during wedding, burial or birthday events. The rice prepared with green beans and the yellow corn, or used for salad, are specially made and given to the VIPs. I know you may have noticed this when you attended event or the other.

Making jollof rice is easier and fun to me than making the white rice and stew. For me, jollof rice saves time even though it requires more ingredients. I have two tins of the green beans and two tins of sweet corn that remained while cooking during my mother's burial.

I have been eyeing the sweet corn and green beans for some time and now, I decided use in the best possible way that I can. Before now, the jollof rice that I cooked were not added the sweet corn and green beans infact, i didn't even know it could be used to make jollof rice.

For the first time in my cooking experience, I decided to prepare my jollof rice adding green beans and sweet corn. After cooking, I was amazed with the enticing delicious and colorful recipe. Both the green beans and sweet corn made the food to appear so attractive and added to its nutritional contents. These two vegetables really made my rice recipe a satisfaction and with a healthy outlook.

What I now know About Green Beans and Sweet Corn

The green beans and sweet corn I made use of, were contained in tins. This implies that they had gone through processing and are now preserved. Green beans contained in tins are normally soft yet, it remains slightly firm.

These vegetable is easy to use as it is been washed, cut, and partially cooked already. This makes the preparation process easy and does not need much to get prepared.

Even though it is preserved in a tin, the nutrients sthat it contains, are reduced in small amounts when you check it against those fresh ones, as revealed by nutritionists.

  • Green Beans
    Green beans are light green in color and long.
    They become soft or tender when properly cooked, having a fresh taste mixed with other needed ingredients. Nutritionists say it is rich in fiber, vitamin k, and c needed for healthy living.

  • Sweet Corn

Sweet corn is on its own, is really sweet wit its juicy contents. It has soft kernels which gives a pleasurable taste of sweetness to the recipe. Generally, corn serves a good source of carbohydrates and and so Sweet corn is a good deal of source for having carbohydrates, fiber, and highly needed nutrients like folate and vitamin B. If it is mixed with green green beans, you will have a good balance of delicious recipe that has irresistible taste.

How I Combined Green beans and sweet corn in Preparing Jollof Rice recipe

To make my jollof rice, the first thing I did was to cut open the tins of the green beans and sweet corn respectively. I Poured away the water used in preserving them and rinsed them together to do as to make sure it was clean and ready for use.

I started preparing my tomatoes, pepper, onions, and seasoning and fried them well. It boiled for some time and added water and other spices to make a rich sauce for the jollof rice .

As my sauce becomes ready, I poured my washed rice and allowed it to boil. As the rice was almost half done, , I had to put the green beans and sweet corn together into the pot.

As the rice becomes done, the green beans was still slightly soft, and the sweet corn added a tasty sweetness that made the recipe so appealing. Thees mixture of tastes of flavors that my recipe contained, made the dish enjoyable as it is adjudge to be rich and also balanced.

Making a jollof rice with green beans and sweet corn is my first experience ever. I see and eat this kind food any time I attend an event not knowing how it been done.

I may not have properly made the recipe like the ones made for occasions. But this is a real cooking challenge for me and I hope to improve on the parts that i didn't do well.
