The diary game of (17-02-23) Attending the matriculation ceremony of my secondary school friends
It was a clement dawn on a Friday morning and everywhere was so frenzy as the harmattan chose to make us have mixed feelings as a sort of discouragement. Remembering I had an event to attend moved me to get up from the comfort of my bed and moved on to doing chores and other activities.
The joy in my heart was immense that I would finally see my friends on gowns since we didn't do graduation in our secondary school. This was the opportunity to wear that gown. After doing all chores I thought were necessary, I placed calls, asking for location so that I won't be pacing around like a scalar quantity.
I got dressed up in my pink trouser and half jacket with white shirt and black tie to match. I appeared more like a celebrant though mine was last year as I got admission into that institution before them. The traffic on the road was way to massive as parents were trying to bring their children in cars.
The impatience was just too much that marshals took charge and did the coordination. Let me tell you the different types of parents and students I saw before telling you how the matriculation ceremony was.
Types of parents yesterday | Attitude |
|---|---|
| The impatient mother | She wants her child to fly into the hall without needing to queue up. |
| The perfectionist mother | She made sure her child's shoes isn't dusty, the clothes are fitted or that the makeup on her child's face isn't wearing. |
| The confused parents | Their entire life was on placing calls every 30 seconds asking for directions from their child. |
| The classic parents | After the matriculation, they moved with their child to somewhere class and perfect. |
| The watchful mother | She made sure her daughter doesn't remove the matriculation cap and gown and that she participate in everything before leaving the school premises. |
| The Where are you parents | They made sure their child is safe and in good hands. |
| The Photographic parents | They made sure you take more than a thousand pictures with friends and well wishers. |
| The caterers | They made sure you and your friends ate to satisfaction before doing any other activity and lot more. |
During the matriculation |
|---|
The matriculation ceremony started by 8Am prompt on which batches trooped in. The event was a successful one and hundreds of students including parents were Photographing. I met one of my secondary school friends named Victor.
I was so excited seeing him on a matriculation gown. I cordially congratulated him and wished him the best of academic life in that institution. We took pictures and I was offered light refreshment for always being there for him. Time wasn't on his side that he had to leave with his parents. While placing calls to find out where my friends were, I saw one of my erudite classmates.
I hugged him warmly as it was over two years I set my eyes on him. While on the search for friends, I met one of my students who I mentored and is still mentoring on achieving academic excellence. We shook hands together. The beams of smile on my face was way too sufficient. I saw lots of friends I didn't see two years now.
I later saw @imohmitch, an erudite member of the steemit platform who forms part of our friendship circle. I congratulated him and wished him the best in his Academic endeavors. Before leaving to continue my search, I felt honored by the presence of @davidmarkgeorge. He made my day. I then saw the one of my best buddies.

We took pictures, had the best of moments, ate and ate to stupor. Lest I forget, I also felt honored by the presence of @whitie. He made my day too as I can never have any dull moment when he's around.

Although he came primarily for a class, he had to join me congratulate my friends. Unfortunately, I didn't see one of my special friends who forms part of our friendship circle.
Photographic moments |
|---|
We took pictures like never before, changing styles and keeping faces. I wore the matriculation gown and cap and also made myself feel like a celebrant. The day was just too perfect a day. I'll cherish every moments I had yesterday.
Crazy moments |
|---|
Me, @whitie and @udeme had crazy moments yesterday. We were pacing about looking for where there's canopy to satisfy our hungry stomach. We moved at an angle of 360° to the point that our shoes changed color. We meet a student who brought his well-wishers in an 18- seater bus for his matriculation. Funny enough.
We were like, if he brought all his village people to celebrate his matriculation, he'll bring every resident in his convocation. I also overhead a lady who was panty and pacing about as she mistakenly bought 10k naira airtime instead of a thousand naira. I felt pity for her though the scene was funny.
We finally left to our houses feeling satisfied and happy. That's how Friday treated me. To me, it was the best Fridays I've had this year.

Thanks for this insightful comment on my post. It was a great day indeed
