Let's do it...Do It Yourself👉Craft, Creativity, Drawing, origami, recycle and more
Hello everyone, and it's always a pleasure to share my creative journey with this amazing community, where art is not just seen but truly appreciated. Today, I’m excited to present one of my recent pencil portrait works—a soft and expressive drawing that focuses on innocence, calmness, and the quiet beauty of a gentle smile. I’ll be sharing my step-by-step approach on how I made this drawing.
Drawing items
• A4 paper
• graphite pencils
• mechanical pencil
• black pen
• eraser
• sharpener
Step-by-Step Process
Step 1
First I moved straight to the eyes. In portraits like this, the eyes carry most of the emotion, so I took my time. I started by outlining the eye shape, then gradually added shading around the eyelids. The pupils were darkened carefully, and I made sure to leave small highlights untouched. I also drew the nose and lips as well.
Step 2
Next was shading; I kept my shading very soft to maintain a youthful and delicate appearance. For the nose, I avoided harsh lines and instead used light shadows to define its shape.
Step 3
Next, I worked on the hair, which required patience and attention to detail. Instead of rushing through it, I used controlled pencil strokes to create the illusion of individual strands. This made the hair look more real.
Step 4
Here I then focused on the shoulder and hand, ensuring that they looked as if they were placed under her chin. I lightly sketched and shaded them to match the softness of the face. The clothing was kept simple with minimal shading so it wouldn’t distract from the expression.
Step 5
To finish the drawing, I went back and enhanced some shadows, cleaned up rough edges, and added final details where needed. I made sure everything looked balanced and soft. And below is my final result.

The beautiful drawing skills are really very interesting. This pencil drawing is very beautiful to look at. The children's facial expressions and the scene of them sitting with their hands together are even more interesting. Thank you for sharing this perfect drawing.
